The Indigo Disk, part two of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, is finally here but not all players will be able to head to start it right away.
Released just three months after The Teal Mask, The Indigo Disk picks up right where things were left off. Aside from the new story content there will be plenty of Pokemon to capture and locations to explore. It’s something that would be fun at any stage in the game, but not everyone will have the opportunity to actually do so.
Before any of that can be started though, eager players will have to do a few things to ensure a smooth transition from The Teal Mask to The Indigo Disk. Here’s how to reach Blueberry Academy and get started on the DLC.
What to do if you can’t start the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk DLC
In order to start The Indigo Disk storyline, players must first complete the entirety of the main Scarlet and Violet storyline in Paldea and complete The Teal Mask’s storyline. The Teal Mask’s story segues directly into the beginning of The Indigo Disk.
If these criteria have been met, players will have no trouble starting the DLC. After meeting these prerequisites, players will receive a call from Director Clavell. He will offer the opportunity to visit Blueberry Academy in the Unova region, which is where The Indigo Disk is set. After answering in the affirmative, Blueberry Academy’s director appears at the Academy in Mesagoza.
Head to Clavell’s office and a cutscene will trigger, introducing Cyrano. The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC starts after talking to Cyrano, who flies the player to Blueberry Academy.
The Indigo Disk features a vast terrarium facility beneath the ocean, with four distinct biomes that support hundreds of Pokemon, both old and new. Expect some major challenges with many doubles-based trainer battles, in keeping with the tournament traditions of competitive Pokemon.
Can you buy The Indigo Disk DLC without the Teal Mask?
The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk DLC can only be purchased as a bundle with The Teal Mask.
Players who already own either Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet should make sure to only purchase the standalone DLC. Unintentionally buying the package that includes both the base game and The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC will undoubtedly result in headaches when attempting to get a refund.
Also make sure to buy the The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for the right game. Buying DLC for Pokemon Scarlet does not give access to the DLC in Pokemon Violet, and vice versa. Players who own Pokemon Violet but purchase the Pokemon Scarlet DLC, or own Scarlet but buy Violet DLC, will not be able to start either The Teal Mask or Indigo Disk.
After players purchase the DLC, they can claim the bonus apparel items received with The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. This is done by opening the menu and navigating to the “downloadable content” button on the bottom-right corner of the screen.
After purchasing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero DLC, players must ensure that the game has been updated to version 3.0.0 in order to start The Indigo Disk.
On the Nintendo Switch’s Home screen, highlight the Pokemon game and press + in order to bring up the menu, then select “Software Update,” and then “Via the Internet.” Once the system is done downloading and updating the game, which can take several minutes, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet can finally be launched with the DLC playable.
