A data miner has purportedly found a series of hidden sound files in Mortal Kombat 1 that reveal the fighters in the Kombat Pack 2 DLC or other future expansions of the game.
The Mortal Kombat series is famous for including DLC characters from its own universe and mixing them with other characters borrowed from IPs. Some of them are dream inclusions like the Terminator and Rambo in Mortal Kombat 11. It is a tradition at this point to include popular characters from outside Mortal Kombat as DLC.
This time around NetherRealm Studios has a head start. The first Kombat pack for Mortal Kombat 1 is already announced and it includes names ranging from Ermac to Homelander. The list of DLC fighters in Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack 2 bundle may be similar.
A data miner has discovered code and files in Mortal Kombat 1 that directly reference fighters that aren’t in the game. The leaks shouldn’t be taken seriously until NetherRealm Studios makes an official announcement.
Who will be in Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack 2 DLC?
Data miners discovered evidence suggesting Noob Saibot, Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, Jade, and Cyrax may be in Kombat Pack 2 alongside a possible guest character in Ghostface from the Scream movies.
X user The Thiny posted the data-mined dialog scripts between released characters and unreleased characters. The scripts only contain the lines spoken by characters that are already in the game and do not contain the lines spoken back by the unreleased characters. It is not made explicit who these characters are, but there are enough clues to make strong theories regarding their identities.
Included in this are a number of other characters that are also referenced whose identities are not fully confirmed.
A character referenced as having a fur bikini bottom and a sword, which The Thiny has theorized to be either Kotal Kahn, Conan the Barbarian, or He-Man. There will also be a female Lin Kuei assassin who could be Frost or Sareena. The T-1000 Terminator may also be included judging from statements made by Peacemaker.
However, some of these characters have their names explicitly included. Megan Fox’s Nitara character has lines that specifically include tags for Jade, Cassie Cage, and Kung Jin. Other data miners have supported The Thiny’s findings, but nothing is set in stone yet.
Even though these characters are included in hidden files, it’s possible they were planned to be included but were later scrapped. It’s also possible that some of the characters discovered in these files may not be in Kombat Pack 2, but could come out in other future expansions to Mortal Kombat 1.
When is the first Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack DLC coming out?
The first bundle of Mortal Kombat 1 DLC will come out in Spring 2024 with the release of the first Kombat Pack.
The pack comes with Takeda, Quan-Chi, and Ermac from Mortal Kombat series. Omni-Man from Invincible, Homelander from The Boys, and Peacemaker from Suicide are guest characters included in the first pack.
As for the possible Kombat Pack 2 leak, some characters fit into the story of Mortal Kombat 1. Others are interesting inclusions but Mortal Kombat is known to add characters from other genres.
Ghostface from the Scream franchise is making a jump to Mortal Kombat. While the character’s inclusion seems odd, Scream is a classic slasher series, previously Mortal Kombat 10 featured Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th.
