NBA2K streamer and content creator Joshua “Cheeseaholic” Lopes has been banned on Twitch for the second time, and fans are wondering why he was banned and when he’ll be back.
Cheeseaholic is a popular YouTuber and Twitch streamer who came up on NBA 2K titles, but his content in 2024 is an interesting mix of gaming videos and pranks. In 2023, he went viral for staging a fake proposal with his girlfriend during a Celtics-Raptors NBA game, and since then, he’s focused more on over-the-top challenges and stunts. While he’s managed to stay away from trouble for the most part, the YouTuber often finds himself in the spotlight for pranks gone too far.

Cheeseaholic is mainly a YouTuber, but his Twitch streams are famous in their own right, with his channel boasting 200,000 followers. So, when his channel stopped appearing on Twitch on October 31, fans were quick to notice and speculate.
Why was Cheeseaholic banned on Twitch?
While Cheeseaholic has some over-the-top pranks to his name, his ban wasn’t related to these. Instead, it was for an explicit interaction during the stream.
According to an Instagram Story posted by Cheeseaholic, he was banned “for using slurs or symbols” on Twitch. The Instagram Story includes what appears to be an email from Twitch with the ban notification. The email states that he risks a permanent ban for multiple violations on his account. According to Twitch’s email, he was banned for using a slur directed at someone on livestream with the intent to insult.

The streamer hasn’t disputed this but was also unrepentant. In response to the ban, Cheeseaholic said that he doesn’t care about it and would continue to stream on YouTube, where he has a big following of 1.57 million subscribers.
However, he did say that he’s looking forward to getting unbanned on Twitch soon.
Is Cheeseaholic permanently banned?
Cheeseaholic’s ban from Twitch is temporary. The notification on his Twitch channel confirms that the ban is temporary.
Cheeseaholic’s ban will reportedly last for seven days, which means fans can expect him to return to Twitch on November 7. This isn’t Cheeseaholic’s first ban on Twitch. His first suspension came in October 2020, though he never revealed the exact reason behind it.
