Persona 3 Reload getting major DLC expansion from past version

A data mine confirmed the DLC that is currently planned for Persona 3 Reload, revealing the fate of “The Answer” epilogue chapter from FES and the female main character from P3 Portable.

Persona 3 Reload dropped on February 2, and fans are loving it so far. Unlike Persona 3 FES, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal, this isn’t just an enhanced port or re-release. The game is a total remake of the now 18-year-old Persona 3, which came out in 2006.

The quality-of-life improvements and modernized graphics and UI make the game feel fresh for fans. The positive reception of Persona 3 Reload was seemingly expected by P Studio, as the studio essentially baked confirmation of a major DLC release into the game. Leakers recently discovered what will be in that content and, unfortunately, what it won’t be.

Persona 3 Reload expansion pass will include The Answer DLC

Persona 3 Reload is coded to have six DLC which include The Answer, the epilogue chapter that has thus far been exclusive to Persona 3 FES for the PlayStation 2.

Data miners found in-game files detailing the plans for both cosmetic items and content additions that will be added to Persona 3 Reload post-release. The most notable addition to that is a line for “Episode Aigis / The Answer.” Episode Aigis was the Japanese name for this post-game chapter.

The events of The Answer were not included in Persona 3 Portable and because of that, have been exclusively available to those who own the game on PlayStation 2. This is the first time this content has been available on a different platform.

Other upcoming DLCs are additional Velvet Room-themed costumes and background music from Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royale. Including music, costumes, and homages to past titles is standard fare for Atlus and P Studio, with different iterations Persona 3, 4, and 5 all now having costumes and items based on each other, with Persona 5 Royal also throwing love triangle-themed puzzle game Catherine into the mix.

Not getting all the content upon release is nothing new for Persona fans, as they know from the many enhanced editions the series has seen over the years. This will notably be the first time that a Persona game gets a proper expansion via DLC. In the past, these additions have been attached to expanded re-releases.

Will Persona 3 Reload get Portable’s playable female main character?

Persona 3 Reload will not be adding female main character Kotone Shiomi to the game via DLC, leaving her exclusive to P3 Portable. Though Sega and P Studio haven’t technically even confirmed post-release plans for the game, this was effectively confirmed in the game’s files.

persona 3 portable male and female main characters

Persona 3 Portable introduced a fresh angle for veteran fans in the form of a playable female protagonist. While the gameplay was largely the same, the side-stories and social links were radically different, with the male and female player characters being able to unlock social links at different times, based on different social stats. Several social links were exclusive to either character, and the side stories were different between their shared characters.

Unfortunately for fans, the Persona 3 Reload files indicate that there are no plans to add the female main character. Persona 4 and Persona 5 notably lacked alternative main character options. Persona 3 fans would love to see Kotone return, and some jokingly even say she will be a Switch 2 exclusive. Plans may change if Persona 3 Reload’s sales exceed the expectations of Sega and P Studio but for the time being, fans should pick up Portable if they want to play as Kotone.
