Kamil “kamo” Frackowiak, a controversial player in the Valorant esports space, will reportedly join Team Liquid.
The esports scene of any video game will attract controversy at some point. Although the Valorant scene is relatively young, it already has its fair share of drama and controversy. The current scene around the Valorant Championship Tour has players resigning, shifting rosters, and, in some cases, banned entirely from the year’s events, as with Bleed Esports.
However, one player acquisition left many fans outraged. kamo, a player currently signed to Movistar KOI, will reportedly join Team Liquid for the VCT EMEA 2025 season. Though initially contracted until 2026, Team Liquid bought out kamo’s contract, securing his place on the roster, as reported by Sheep Esports. However, many fans expressed outrage at the decision.
Why is kamo controversial?
kamo was suspended from active play in 2022 for allegedly pressuring his girlfriend to send him explicit photographs when she was 14 years old.
The accusations initially stemmed from a since-deleted tweet from kamo’s ex-girlfriend. She also stated that the player was both racist and sexist.
“He’s extremely racist, sexist, and pressured me into sending nudes when I was 14,” stated his ex-girlfriend in the deleted tweet.
She then posted screenshots of kamo on Discord using racial slurs regarding Brazilian players. In a response, kamo apologized for the racism and sexism, but denied the accusations of grooming, claiming he was 17 years old at the time. Even so, the fans still saw the messages as inappropriate.
NOM Esports later stated it would launch an investigation, with kamo saying he would see a psychologist. Meanwhile, his ex-girlfriend washed her hands of the whole affair and deleted the tweets around the controversy. kamo also told fans to not harass his former partner. However, NOM Esports dropped the 2022 Valorant roster a month later, citing payment issues with VRL East Surge, leaving kamo in the wind.
kamo will reportedly join Team Liquid for VCT EMEA 2025
kamo has since deleted many of his tweets during the controversy. He jumped from team to team before settling on KOI in late 2023. Initially a stand-in, the player became a fully-fledged member in early 2024. With recent reports of a move to Team Liquid, many fans disliked the decision.
While the player’s past allegations are the bulk of the complaints, many also criticized the player’s performance, questioning his skill and saying that Team Liquid could have signed superior talent. Notably, kamo did finish VCT EMEA 2024 Stage 2 with the highest ACS and ADR in the league. Even so, he’s still a rookie in the scene and a controversial one at that. This move means that Team Liquid will be needing to win, and win big, in order to justify the signing.
