After months of speculation, Red Dead Redemption is finally coming to PC this October with some differences that set it apart from the original and remastered console releases.
Rockstar Games first released Red Dead Redemption back in 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It won several awards, including multiple game of the year awards. After this much acclaim, developers released a remastered version of the game for the Nintendo Switch and PS4 but left PC fans mostly in the dark until now.
After an extended wait, the game is finally coming to PCs with some differences that should improve quality.
New PC enhancements available for Red Dead Redemption
The Red Dead Redemption remastered PC release adds enhancements for specialty hardware and technology including upscaling and ultrawide monitors.
Much like for the last remaster, Rockstar is promising new, PC-specific upgrades to the almost 15-year-old game. Fans can look forward to a native 4K resolution at up to 144 Hz and full keyboard and mouse functionality. The new port will also offer features to customize the experience to users’ hardware, with features including ultrawide and super ultrawide resolutions, adjustable draw distances, and both NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 support.
The minimum specs have also been revealed and while it’s an older game, its demands don’t match its age. Recommended specs include:
- Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-8500 / AMD Ryzen 5 3500X
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2070 / AMD RX 5700 XT
- SSD recommended
Fans can get a glimpse of how the game will run on the PC in the official trailer. It’s likely that all of the enhancements are equipped to show off their full capabilities.
Does Red Dead Redemption on PC have the DLC?
The Red Dead Redemption remaster’s PC release will include both the base game and the Undead Nightmare DLC.
Undead Nightmare is a companion story to the main game that adds zombies to the Wild West setting. Players can choose to play alone or in multiplayer mode in the non-canonical game. Unlike the original console versions, Rockstar Games is bundling in the DLC.
No new content will be added to the open-world Western as of now, which is consistent with the remaster release for the Switch and PlayStation 4. It’s unlikely that this will change, as Rockstar Games is also working on the next Grand Theft Auto and other games.
Red Dead Redemption PC release date
Rockstar Games announced a planned release date of October 29, 2024 for the Red Dead Redemption PC remaster.
The new PC port will be available to purchase on Steam, the Rockstar Sore, and the Epic Games Store. The game’s price on launch was $50 forth Switch and PS4 was $50. Hopefully, fans won’t experience the same sticker shock for Red Dead Redemption on PC.
