Diablo 4 fans are livid about the upcoming 1.1 patch and popular Twitch streamer Asmongold is among them.
The Season of the Malignant is coming to Diablo 4, marking the first major post-release content update for the game. While this occasion would ideally generate hype among players for the new weapons and challenges, the reveals were ultimately buried under a lengthy set of patch notes that included nerfs to essentially everything about player characters, reductions to experience yields, and buffs to monsters. To say fan reaction to the Diablo 4 1.1 patch notes was negative would be a profound understatement.
Asmongold isn’t happy about the update either. The streamer took to Twitch and had a lengthy reaction stream where he blasted almost all the changes that Blizzard made.
Asmongold heated over Diablo 4 Season 1 patch notes
Asmongold broke down the changes that are coming in Diablo 4’s 1.1 update and he was succinct in his analysis.
“Number one, everything is worse. Number two, everything is harder. Number three, everything you were doing? Now you have to work harder to do it again. Number four, leveling? Slower. Number five, Helltides? Worse. Damage reduction, reduced. Vulnerability, gutted,” Asmongold said.
He wasn’t exaggerating, either. Diablo 4 patch 1.1 will see overwhelming nerfs to many different builds and large buffs to monsters. A long list of affixes saw nerfs ranging from 15 to 65% in their effectiveness. Experience bonuses were slashed by up to 90% in some cases. Meanwhile, monsters have bigger HP bonuses based on party size.
The World of Warcraft streamer noted that Diablo 4 had some issues including resistances not working, players running out of storage space, Necromancers having no powerful minion builds, and the grind-focused early game for some characters. Unfortunately, he says that none of that was fixed.
There was one area where Asmongold praised Blizzard though. He praised the “gutting” of vulnerability, which he said was too powerful relative to other options available to players.
Here’s the Diablo 4 Season 1 start time
Diablo 4 Season 1 starts on July 20 at 10 a.m. PT. Patch 1.1 will also be implemented at this time, which means that players will be facing the Season of the Malignant with a significantly weaker character.
The season will center around Malignant Monsters, a new type of foe created by Lilith. Players will need to team up with the new character Cormond, who teaches them how to steal Malignant Hearts and turn that power against Lilith. Players will need to clear the campaign on the Eternal Realm by the end of the season with at least one character in order to unlock this questline.
