Users are review bombing Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile due to severe performance issues on launch, leaving many wondering if the game is any good and whether it has any chance of recovering.
Call of Duty: Warzone is the franchise’s attempt at capturing the hype of battle royales and while it’s been controversial for both fans of the genre and fans of the franchise, it’s also been an undeniable success. Activision greenlit the development of a mobile port following the success of Call of Duty: Mobile.
The game launched in March 2024 on iOS and Android, a development which was once again controversial and may have sparked an upheaval in the biggest video game company in the world. Unfortunately, Android players did not have the best first impression of the port they received.
Is Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile any good?
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile has gotten off to a disastrous start with a bug-filled launch on Android devices.
Despite the hype, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile failed to impress Android users with its nightmarish launch. Android users across different regions report constant stuttering during online play. Some also reported overheating and major bugs during regular gameplay, something that makes it too risky to even bother with. This isn’t a tech issue either, as users with higher-end Android phones reported experiencing these same issues.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile’s dev team announced it is “hard at work” on an update that will fix many reported issues on launch. Meanwhile, iOS users haven’t reported significant problems with the Apple port. These issues led to accusations of “favoritism” for the Apple brand, though it’s unlikely that this is the case.
Is Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile worth playing on Android?
Android users may want to wait on trying Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, but those with iOS devices can give it a try on day one.
Mobile phones have made great strides in game technology over the years. However, it is still a market filled with unoptimized games regardless of the operating system. This is also a likely case of growing pains within Activision.
Though Call of Duty: Mobile is an established success in the mobile gaming market, the CoD branding was licensed to the TiMi Studio Group which developed a number of major mobile titles including Arena of Valor and Honor of Kings. Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile was developed internally by Activision.
