Cursed Sails in Fortnite is a time-limited event themed after Pirates of the Caribbean that lets players hunt the treasure as Captain Jack Sparrow and get a skin based on the iconic character.
On July 19, Epic Games unveiled the highly anticipated Cursed Sails event in Fortnite, which had previously been leaked as part of Epic’s now-deleted year-long roadmap. As promised, the developer has now officially released the time-limited event, bringing a wealth of new content, including a new Jack Sparrow skin in Fortnite.
Cursed Sails event kicks off on July 19 and will run through August 6. During this time, players can collect Pirates of Caribbean-themed items, including two variant skins for the swashbuckler.
How to get the Jack Sparrow skin in Fortnite
Jack Sparrow’s base skin is unlocked instantly after purchasing the premium reward track of the Cursed Sail event pass for 1,000 V-Bucks. There is no way to get the skin for free, so players will have to come up with the digital cash or have a friend gift them some.
For Cursed Jack Sparrow skin, players may want to roll their sleeves and prepare for a week-long grind.
Cursed Jack Sparrow looks the same at a glance, but it’s the zombie version of the beloved pirate as seen in the first film. Briefly stealing a piece of Aztec gold gave Jack a brief stint of immortality, which he used to kill his archrival Hector Barbossa. At least for a little while.
Instead of the iconic mustache and kohl-rimmed eyes, players will get a skeleton dressed up in Jack Sparrow’s signature kit.
How to get the Cursed Jack Sparrow skin in Fortnite
Players need to unlock the Cursed Jack Sparrow by completing quests to acquire Cursed Gold.
After purchasing the premium track for the pass, players can complete quests called Pirate Codes that are released in stages. The first set is currently live, but there are a total of eight quest sets planned, and completing them will reward the player with Cursed Gold.
The Cursed Jack Sparrow skin is the most expensive item of the set, and requires 11,000 Cursed Gold to unlock. Because of this, players need to not only buy the pass with V-Bucks, but also work for the virtual currency.
It may sound like a lot of gold, but it comes with the bonus of a Lego Fortnite variant.
