Cult of the Lamb: Sins of the Flesh release date, price confirmed

Cult of the Lamb’s Sins of the Flesh Update brings sex, offspring, outfits, and weapons to Devolver Digital’s indie cult simulator and its release date and price have been locked in.

Cult of the Lamb, developed by Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital, is a mish-mash of mechanics, utilizing life simulation and village management to add a cozy slant to its Roguelite hack-and-slash. All of these are in service of one goal; spreading the word of the One True Cult. Despite the game’s cutesy aesthetic, the central premise is deliciously dark, satirizing all the tropes that come with demonic cults.

The title has received both critical and commercial acclaim since its release. Its success is thanks in part to Massive Monster’s dedication to its fandom both on social media and within the game itself. In one such satirical post, developers stated that they would “add sex to the game” if the account reached 300,000 followers by the end of 2023. This lofty goal was met within hours and thankfully, the company didn’t have to make good on its threats of shutting down the game. Massive Monster has made good on its promise.

Cult of the Lamb: Sins of the Flesh update release date, price confirmed

Sins of the Flesh will go live for Cult of the Lamb on January 16, 2024, on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S. January is looking to be a surprisingly packed month for video games all around. Games such as The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered, Tekken 8, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will also be released this January 2024.

Gamers may have to keep Cthulhu on speed dial to afford all these releases. Thankfully, the Sins of the Flesh update is totally free, so Cult of the Lamb owners won’t have to perform eldritch sacrifices to refill their wallets.

Here’s what’s in the next Cult of the Lamb update

Sins of the Flesh is a major update that brings new mechanics, weapons, story content, and progression revamps to Cult of the Lamb.

As the update’s name implies, Sins of the Flesh is indeed the “sex update.” Far from being graphic, however, the bonding session comically takes place entirely within a special tent, after which the cult couple brings out an offspring, much like The Sims.

As expected, this act is not purely out of passionate love. The resulting offspring can be raised within the cult. Eventually, they will be convinced to pledge their allegiance to the almighty lamb, just as their parents did.

In addition to cosmetic outfits and progression overhauls, players can now use the powerful blunderbuss weapon in combat. This powerful gun is most useful in close-quarters combat but can be charged for some long-range sniping.
