Runaway video game hit Elden Ring will debut an international concert series in 2024, bringing the game’s music to life.
The Elden Ring Symphonic Adventure promises cutting-edge 4K video screens, lighting, and “special sound effects.” The two-hour concert is accompanied by footage from the game using Overlook Events’ “Narrative Symphonic Experience” system. This synchronizes film with the music in a way that makes for a special sight-and-sound experience.
Elden Ring was released in 2022 and sold over 20 million copies in its first year, garnering praise for a variety of angles, including its score and music by Tsukasa Saitoh, Shoi Miyazawa, Tai Tomisawa, Yuka Kitamura, and Yoshimi Kudo. Overlook Events has previously worked on several video game and anime-themed “Symphonic Adventures” for franchises including Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, and Assassin’s Creed. Overlook Events is well established at this point but will take things a step further for Elden Ring.
In order to accommodate this innovative format, dozens of tracks from Elden Ring have been extended. “Narrative” is a keyword in Narrative Symphonic Experience, and the concert’s telling of Elden Ring starts with the beginning of the Tarnished’s quest and concludes with the battle against the Elden Beast.
The Elden Ring Symphonic Adventure is also set to be a larger affair than some of Overlook Events’ past concerts. Alongside the symphony will be a choir, letting the musicians tackle all of the game’s most memorable tracks.
The Elden Ring Symphonic Adventure concert dates, locations
There are two Elden Ring Symphonic Adventure concerts, with the first on January 13, 2024 and the second on April 28, 2024.
The January 13, 2024 show will be held in Paris, France, and has already sold out. This will be followed by the second event in the series on April 28 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, United Kingdom. Tickets are still available as of this writing. The latter show will feature the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and Crouch End Festival Chorus, conducted by Adrián Ronda Sampayo.
There are no other concerts confirmed for the tour at this time, and it’s unknown whether the event will move beyond Europe. It’s also unknown if the rumored release of the Elden Ring DLC will have any impact on the symphonic adventure’s narrative structure. Given where its leaked release date lands, the event could incorporate elements from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
