Popular streamer and content creator Emily “ExtraEmily” Zhang has been suspended from Twitch for a third time after yet another reckless driving incident live on stream. Here’s a complete breakdown of the latest ExtraEmily ban and every suspension she has received before it, as well as the reasoning behind each one.
It had only been a month since ExtraEmily returned from her streaming hiatus, sparked by viewbotting allegations that she’s once again found herself in murky waters. On her June 28 stream, ExtraEmily almost crashed her car, resulting in a streaming suspension on Twitch.
This wasn’t the first time ExtraEmily was accused of reckless driving. Her past history on Twitch has prompted other big streaming names like Asmongold to call for a complete ban on streaming and driving.
Why people are mad at ExtraEmily after Twitch ban
While the latest ban ExtraEmily ban has already been reversed, the backlash is stronger than it has ever been, and there’s a solid reason why so many are mad about it. Many are pointing to her history with reckless driving to call out Twitch for letting her off easy, and that history goes back even further than most realize.
ExtraEmily has been banned three times since she started streaming in 2020, and each of her bans have been for the same reason: reckless driving. While Twitch doesn’t always reveal an exact reason for its suspensions of streamers, all three bans came after she was caught being distracted while driving on stream.
ExtraEmily’s first Twitch ban came in October 2023. It followed mounting concern over her in-real-life streams, including walking in the middle of a busy highway in late September. The final trigger came when viewers reported her using her phone while driving during an October 11 broadcast.
Two days later, on October 13, her channel was suspended for a Community Guidelines violation. Twitch never officially confirmed the reason, but it was easy to link it to the distracted-driving incident given the platform’s history of penalizing similar behavior and the lack of other potential reasoning.

That wasn’t the end of it. In April 2025, ExtraEmily once again violated both traffic laws and Twitch’s Terms of Service when she intentionally ran a red light during a livestream. The act itself drew criticism, but it was her casual response afterward that fueled most of the backlash.
During that same livestream, she brushed it off, suggesting it was something she did regularly given how long traffic signals in Austin can be.
“That happens all the time. In Austin, the stoplights here are really long, so usually I just go past. It’s fine,” ExtraEmily said at the time.
A year later, the streamer has received yet another ban for another reckless driving incident. On her June 28 stream, ExtraEmily almost hit an incoming car because she was distracted with looking at her chat.

She once again brushed th event off, but it was followed by a streaming suspension from Twitch. That ban was lifted after only a day, but fans are calling for a longer punishment for Extra Emily.
Zach “Asmongold” Hoyt was among those responding to her unban, calling to Twitch to permanently ban streaming while driving. According to him, streamers should simply get an Uber if they wish to stream live while traveling.
It’s highly unlikely that Twitch will go back and give ExtraEmily a harsher punishment despite the outrage, but streaming while driving has become a recurring problem across the platform lately. In just the past year, multiple streamers across Twitch and Kick have gotten into auto accidents while streaming live. The fear is that ExtraEmily could be next.
Against that backdrop, calls for Twitch to crack down harder on driving-while-streaming aren’t exactly unreasonable.
For her part, ExtraEmily continues to seem relatively unbothered by the incident and the response to it. Maybe her history of bans and kicks has made this new suspension seem like a minor event, even if the streaming community views it as anything but.
