The next DLC character coming to Guilty Gear Strive may have been revealed, with Elphelt seemingly making a comeback.
Guilty Gear Strive has been the breakout installment in the long-running fighting game series. While Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1 have been launched in the years since its release, GGST is still providing regular content updates for fans of the franchise. Guilty Gear Strive has managed to keep the game alive thanks to its seasonal model for DLC characters, enormous content updates, and go-to status for major fighting game tournaments.
Guilty Gear Strive is currently in Season 3. The first DLC character of the season was Johnny, and now, it seems like Elphelt will be joining the fray with a brand-new look.
Is Elphelt playable in Guilty Gear Strive?
Elphelt will likely be the second playable DLC character in Season 3 of Guilty Gear Strive.
A leaker posted a series of photos that seemingly show her new character portrait and some shots of her in-game. These sport a brand new design for Elphelt, who is notably missing her iconic bunny ears from previous games. Though the character is still distinctly her, she received the same sort of redesign that other longstanding characters did, with her outfit being dialed back. The new portrait shows her dropping the “rabbit getting married” aesthetic for something more frilly and somewhat more functional.
Introduced in the Guilty Gear Xrd series, Elphelt was a stance character who utilizes an assortment of weaponry to deal some damage to her opponents. By switching between long-range rifles, shotguns, and grenades, Elphelt was a terrifyingly versatile character in the hands of a skilled player.
Arc System Works has not confirmed that Elphelt will be in the game. The second DLC character for Guilty Gear Strive Season 3 has not yet been confirmed, and could be releasing soon.
Guilty Gear Strive is a major success story for the modern FGC landscape. Within only a year, Guilty Gear Strive sold over one million copies, the highest tally in franchise history despite dating back to 1998. Its popularity didn’t slow down with time, surpassing the player counts of more identifiable competitors like Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V, an incredible feat given how established those two franchises are for FGC fans.
Guilty Gear Strive also set the record for most players ever for an Arc System Works game, surpassing 2.5 million players worldwide. If she is confirmed, Elphelt will be the second of four new characters coming to Guilty Gear Strive for Season 3, and fans are excited to see who comes next.
