Grasp is one of the most important stats to max out in Hades 2, yet many players don’t even realize it can be upgraded.
Hades 2 is a bonafide success for Supergiant Games, and it isn’t even fully out yet. In early access, it already features more bosses, mechanics, and NPCs than the first game, with players discovering something new every day. However, one feature that’s been around from the start but still confuses players is Grasp.
Grasp, which the players can see at the Altar, determines how many Arcana cards players can equip at once. Arcana Cards give Melinoe significant upgrades and powers that make runs far easier. More Arcana Cards means a more powerful Melinoe. However, players only have a limited amount of Grasp to work with. That said, there’s more Grasp than players think, especially when leveling up.
How to max grasp in Hades 2
To acquire the max amount of 30 Grasp, the player must acquire 1,000 Psyche, 3 Shadow, and 3 Dark.
Players can upgrade Grasp by selecting Melinoe’s portrait on the right side and spending Psyche. Initially, the player only needs Psyche to level up Grasp.
The best way to farm Psyche is by equipping a fully upgraded Tablet of Peace and Frinos as a familiar. This combo easily brings peace to lingering spirits found across the run, who will reward the player with a generous amount of Psyche. After 29 Grasp, however, the player needs to obtain Shadow and Dark, which are much rarer than Psyche.
Players can obtain Shadow in Hades 2 by unlocking the Permeation of Witching Wards incantation. From there, the player can go to the Alchemy tab of the Cauldron, and select Shadow Extraction. To craft Shadow, the player needs 30 Ashes, 30 Psyche, 3 Fate Fabric, and then wait 12 Encounters.
The trickiest resource of all is Dark, which can only be found in Chaos’ realm. The player is guaranteed at least one Dark from Chaos after entering their realm multiple times. Even then, Dark only has a small chance of spawning.
To somewhat increase the chances of finding Dark, purchase the Light of Ixion from the Shrine of Hermes to guarantee a Chaos Gate. It’s far from reliable, but with enough runs, the players should have enough Dark to finally max out Grasp.
