Hades 2: How to wake up Hypnos and how Dream Vapors work

Hypnos in Hades 2

Hades 2 allows players to wake up Hypnos from his deep slumber, but what does this actually do, and what’s the use of Dream Vapors?

As an early access title, Hades 2 offers more content than most. Even so, many mysteries remain for the players. It wasn’t until the Olympus update that fans met the surface route’s third boss fight, Prometheus. However, the final boss atop Olympus remains unknown, leaving fans speculating.

Another mystery, right in Melinoe’s home, is the deep slumber of Hypnos. While the rest of Hades’ house retainers were trapped in time by Chronos, Hypnos managed to escape. However, he appears trapped in eternal sleep, and players wonder if he will ever wake up.

The Olympic update adds a way for players to do just that. Kind of.

How to wake up Hypnos in Hades 2

The player must craft Dream Vapors with the End to Deepest Slumber incantation to wake up Hypnos.

The Dream Vapors recipe won’t pop up immediately, and exactly how many runs are needed to trigger its appearance is unknown. Even so, it’s best to max out Hypnos’ relationship by gifting him enough Nectar.

Eventually, the cauldron should reveal the recipe for Dream Vapors. To craft the incantation, the player needs 1 Moly, 2 Mandrake, and 3 Poppy. Moly is prevalent in Erebus, the first level down the Tartarus route, and doesn’t need any special tools. Mandrake seeds can be found in the Rift of Thessaly. Equipping the Silver Spade will make Mandrake seed pits more likely to spawn.

Finally, Players can find Poppy seeds in Tartarus, once again recoverable with the Silver Spade. Once the players have these ingredients, they can craft Dream Vapors.

What happens after using Dream Vapors on Hypnos in Hades 2?

Using Dream Vapors results in Hypnos bringing Melinoe to a vision of the House of Hades.

Covered in a miasma of red, the player may not recognize the iconic hallway until they walk down. That’s when the first game’s iconic theme begins to play. Instead of the usual dead denizens, Hypnos has seemingly replaced everyone with a cardboard copy, including Thanatos and Hades.

Hypnos lies at the end of the hallway, somehow still asleep within the dream world. That said, he becomes much chattier and starts saying his catchphrases from the first game. Players will likely have to craft multiple Dream Vapors to uncover the rest.
