Popular vtuber agency Hololive is merging all three of its branches into a singular brand, and here’s how talents and fans will likely be affected by this major move.
Nijisanji once announced something peculiar to fans when it made clear that the vtuber agency would be merging Nijisanji ID and Nijisanji KR into the main Nijisanji brand, with Nijisanji EN being the only one left out. Now, four years later, Hololive has announced something similar, with all three branches, Hololive Indonesia, Hololive English, and Hololive DEV_IS, coming together under the Hololive brand.
While this move may not be without precedent, the surrounding community is still left wondering how it will change things within the vtuber agency and for its many fans.
What does the Hololive branch merger actually mean?
The parent company of Hololive, Cover, has announced this merger as part of the vtuber agency’s 10th anniversary. There were previously four main branches, including Hololive, Hololive English, Hololive Indonesia, and Hololive DEV_IS. Cover has announced that all of them will now merge to allow its vtuber talents to interact more globally, without being restricted by region.
The company believes this move can allow the talents to create new content in collaboration with each other, without the unnecessary boundaries that the different branches once imposed.

It’s important to note that this merger won’t make all of the talents part of the same generation. Each talent will likely maintain their existing identity, and the merger is an expansion of the brand structure.
It does bring all contracted talents under the Hololive branding without removing their existing associations. The merger is aimed at unifying all the agency branches rather than eradicating their backstories.
Does the Hololive merger mean any vtubers are leaving?
Cover hasn’t announced that any existing vtubers are graduating, leaving, or being terminated as part of its Hololive merge effort.
The company has maintained its stance that it wants to bring all of its talents together so they can better interact globally. This isn’t a new thing, as Cover previously revealed in 2025 that it wanted to expand beyond Asia and into North American markets in particular. The company believes this expansion may help its long-term goals.
Talents leaving can sometimes catch fans by surprise, but at least for now, there is no definitive reason to believe that any vtubers will leave Hololive because of the Cover merger.
What does the Cover merger mean for Hololive talents and fans?
The Hololive merger is expected to be positive for talents, as based on Cover’s announcement, it should become easier for vtubers to collaborate globally with others in the agency. This means there will be fewer restrictions on vtubers from one regional branch wanting to collaborate with talents from another.
This can become a massive boost in expanding the popularity of talents, as some branches have substantially larger fan followings. For instance, a Japanese fan would typically follow a Hololive vtuber. With this merger, a Hololive Indonesia vtuber will be under the same banner Hololive and can directly collaborate with the Japanese talent, taking advantage of their following and exposing them to fans from other regions.
It’s still worth noting that this remains a hypothetical, as Cover hasn’t given any concrete examples of how the Hololive merger will affect collabs.
The main effect the merger could have for fans is how Cover changes its promotion strategy moving forward. Viewers in a specific region may start seeing more global ads, highlighting talents from other regions who would have been less visible before.
A larger effect may be the branches losing some of their sense of identity, even if Cover doesn’t intend for that to happen. Global collaborations typically mix cultures and languages, which may lead to viewers seeing more diversified content from their favorite vtubers. This could potentially be an issue for viewers who are set on the exact type of content they like, but it could equally help fans consume more global content and discover more talents they hadn’t previously been exposed to.
