Cover has announced that Hololive is making history in the vtuber world by delivering its first anime series made for TV, and here’s everything we currently know about the newly-announced project.
Hololive is famous as a vtuber agency that also produces a variety of media content, most notably music. But one thing the agency hasn’t produced to date is a television show. That is now set to change, as Cover has announced that after multiple years of effort and build-up, Hololive will be getting an anime series that will be seen on TV.
Here’s everything Cover has revealed about the new Hololive anime series, as well as when further information will be shared.
Hololive’s first TV anime series is five years in the making
It has been officially confirmed that Hololive will get its own made-for-TV anime series, with its current title being “Odeholo.” It’s possible that this may just be the working title, and the anime may launch with another name entirely.
Hololive has previously dabbled in animated content, but this will be the production’s first real TV anime. Cover revealed that this has been in the works for roughly five years. So while the announcement was made for its 10th-year anniversary countdown, Cover has actually been trying to make the project a reality for some time.
Studio KAI will handle the animation production, and the studio has worked on other official Hololive anime and music projects in the past. The cast of the Hololive anime series hasn’t been announced yet, and Cover didn’t disclose any information about which vtubers may be involved, nor anything about its story or genre.
But Cover did state that a special announcement will be made at a later date, and that announcement is likely to include more concrete details about the new anime.
When will Hololive reveal more details about its new anime?
Cover announced that the full details of the anime will be revealed in the “Odeholo” Information Reveal Special Program, which will be livestreamed on YouTube on September 23, 2026 at 8 PM JST.
The broadcast will last for one hour and will feature several Hololive vtubers, with a roster of stars set to include Momosuzu Nene, Omaru Polka, Yukihana Lamy, Shishiro Botan, Shirakami Fubuki, and Ookami Mio. Cover has revealed that the special program will provide viewers with “visual information and the identity behind Odeholo.”
The vtubers who will be featured in the special program haven’t yet been confirmed to be in the anime’s cast of characters. Cover stated that more information about the anime will be shared on its official social media account following the big announcement event.
Since the anime series is part of Hololive’s 10th anniversary countdown, it’s likely that the series will be released in 2027 rather than later in 2026. But this release date consideration remains speculative, and fans will need to wait for official confirmation from Cover to get a solid lead on the planned release date.
