How to boost FPS in Stalker 2

Stalker 2 FPS boost

Stalker 2 is riddled with performance issues, forcing fans to find different means to boost FPS.

The long-awaited sequel saw various delays before its release on November 20, 2024. Fans eagerly awaited the fourth entry in the post-apocalyptic game series, especially after the promised additions. Twenty regions, a massive open world, and a shift to Unreal Engine 5 suggested the game would be an ambitious survival experience.

While demanding high PC specifications from players is expected, Stalker 2 launched with significant performance issues. The frequent FPS dips in what is otherwise a graphically beautiful game threaten to break immersion. Fortunately, players have found tricks to boost FPS for Stalker 2.

How to improve performance in Stalker 2

Players can improve how Stalker 2 runs by tweaking in-game and GPU settings.

Although Stalker 2 has incredible visuals, some players will have to sacrifice quality for performance. Lower specs than the minimum requirement for the game will result in poor performance on PC. The game doesn’t have great performance on Xbox either. Even though the game was designed for the Series X, Stalker 2 hovers between 40 and 50 FPS.

While future patches for the game will likely improve its performance, excited players have some options to boost performance for Stalker 2. Adjusting settings such as hair graphics, shadows, and object details can enhance the experience in Stalker 2 with minimum effect on quality.

If the game still runs slow, players can reduce the quality further by lowering texture and shading settings. Setting the upscaling quality to performance or super performance will also boost FPS. Alternatively, those with graphic cards that support upscaling methods such as DLSS, FSR, and XeSS to make the game run smoother at a higher fidelity.

Are there mods to raise FPS in Stalker 2?

Fans have created mods for Stalker 2 that reduce stutters and boost overall performance.

While not applicable to console players, PC players can bypass Stalker 2’s performance issues using an FPS mod. The most popular Stalker 2 anti-stutter and FPS boost mod has over 30,000 downloads. The popularity of these mods showcases how much players want better performance in Stalker 2.

The mod has two versions. The first is identical to the base Stalker 2 game, with the only difference being the boost in FPS. The second version lets players customize the game’s graphics as they see fit. Players can also download the peak, ultra, or even potato versions depending on their device’s specifications.

Fans hope a proper performance patch comes for Stalker 2 soon.
