Is there any hope of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero coming to Switch?

With the console and PC release hitting record numbers, fans of Goku and the gang are wondering if Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is also coming to Switch.

The highly anticipated game in the Budokai Tenkaichi fighting series is getting strong reviews. Bandai Namco is focusing on making the arena fighter stand out with an expansive roster and striking visuals. The new release takes players back to the golden days of anime fighters. Fans of Tenkaichi 3 will rejoice to know how well Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero captures the 3D fighting feeling of the anime.

While the combat is not as deep as other fighting games like Street Fighter or Tekken, it’s still flashy and stylish. Like the battles in the popular anime series, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero captures the over-the-top nature of 3D fights in an open arena. Naturally, fans of the genre are curious whether Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will come to Nintendo Switch.

Is Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero on Nintendo Switch?

No, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is not on Nintendo Switch, and Bandai Namco has not announced any portable ports.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is an ambitious project that taxes modern consoles and hardware. While Nintendo Switch is no stranger to epic open-world games that seem impossible for it to run, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is skipping the console for now. Some games, like The Witcher 3, run natively on the console, while others, like Control, use cloud streaming.

There’s a chance that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will become available on Nintendo Switch later. As for the hardware natively running the game, it would be a hard battle for the developers.

Even with the far more powerful PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, Sparking Zero’s developers had to make some concessions due to technical limitations. This included limiting the options for split-screen multiplayer. This followed suggestions that there might not be any local multiplayer in the game.

If Bandai Namco was forced to prune features out of the PlayStation 5 version of the game, it’s no surprise that the game is unavailable on the Switch. The only hope for Nintendo fans would be on the next-gen Switch console.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Switch character

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be revealed at some point in Q4 2024 or Q1 2025, per Nintendo. The console will be more powerful than the original Switch, meaning it’s more likely to host major multi-platform releases. That still does not guarantee that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will be released on the upcoming console. Players who want to get it right now should look to get a current-generation console or PC

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero on Switch 2 might be announced later after the console has been officially announced. Switch users don’t have to feel alone, though. Gamers on last-generation consoles are also missing out on the game. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is not releasing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
