Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s release date has leaked and the sequel’s arrival is way sooner than expected.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is one-of-a-kind in today’s landscape of power fantasy RPGs. The game’s focus on gritty realism through its combat and story makes it stand out from its contemporaries. Gamers passionate about punishing gameplay also appreciated the game’s unflinching difficulty that made the level-up process all the more enjoyable.
Warhorse Studios, the developers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, have only released that lone title despite the company being formed in 2011. Given how this was the studio’s first-ever game, a long development cycle isn’t surprising. Armed with experience, Warhorse Studio seems more ready than ever for the sequel.
When is the release date for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to be released in 2024.
The information came from a leaked teaser trailer for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that concluded with “Coming 2024.” The sequel’s development cycle lines up with its predecessor. Kingdom Come: Deliverance took seven years to finish before its 2018 release.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s development likely began shortly after the first game’s release. That would put the sequel’s development cycle at six years, one less than its predecessor. The teaser trailer references the first game’s plot of a peasant rising to knighthood. Whether the plot continues Henry’s story or follows a new character altogether remains to be seen.
What platforms will Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 be on?
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Notably, the game won’t be coming out for the previous generation of consoles. For fans who played the game on consoles, this may be a blessing in disguise.
Despite critical and commercial acclaim on PC, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports of the original suffered from several technical issues. While the developers patched out the problems over time, enough problems remained that most reviewers recommended the PC release.
Notably, the Nintendo Switch port for Kingdom Come: Deliverance wasn’t released until March 2024, but it ran surprisingly well. A partnership with Saber Interactive, a studio that specializes in porting games, contributed to the game’s smooth transition to the Switch. It’s unknown if Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will come to Nintendo consoles after the PS5, PC, and Xbox release date, but odds are that it’s going to land on the next-gen Switch rather than the existing one.
