Cover has announced the Hololive merger as a step towards building a global brand, but some fans are speculating that Korone Inugami may be graduating after the new move as she has removed her affiliation from her official social media accounts.
The Hololive merger matches up neatly with Cover’s stated goals, as the company has been trying to expand further into the Western market for some time. Cover hadn’t revealed any vtuber terminations or departures directly due to the Hololive merger, but this is the second instance of fans connecting a vtuber’s recent actions to the agency’s restructuring.
The first involved Takanashi Kiara, who went on an extended break mere days after the Hololive merger was officially announced, and now viewers believe they have found evidence that a Korone Inugami graduation is imminent.
Why do fans think Korone Inugami will graduate from Hololive?
Fans have started speculating about Korone Inugami graduating from Hololive for several reasons. The first, which is the true basis for the speculation, is the fact that Korone removed the “Hololive affiliated” label from both her X account and her YouTube channel. This was reportedly done on the same day as the Hololive merger.
The vtuber has also slowed down her streaming activities, and even the content that she broadcasts now is seemingly limited to members. She recently did an equipment test stream, which was also limited to only members.
Some fans have directly compared these actions to those taken by Sakamata Chloe shortly before she graduated from Hololive.
It’s important to note that there is no official graduation announcement yet from Korone Inugami or Hololive. The vtuber also reportedly told her fans in August that she would stream less frequently from mid-August through mid-September because of family matters, work responsibilities, and other commitments. She had stated that there may be longer gaps between streams during that time.
But the vtuber’s streams being members-only is a fact, and she hasn’t clarified why she had made this switch.
As for the removal of Hololive affiliate references from her socials, even if Korone did remove her Hololive label because of the merger, it still may not have been purposed towards indicating a pending graduation.
All these things combined do explain why fans are rampantly speculating over Korone Inugami going through with a graduation from Hololive, but such a move remains unverified all the same. While Korone is seemingly only doing member streams at this time, she is still technically active as she hasn’t altogether stopped her streaming activities. Things would be different if the vtuber completely stopped streaming, but that isn’t the case.
Korone Inugami may return in full force nearer to mid-September, as she previously offered she would, rather than planning on leaving Hololive. But if she doesn’t, speculation over her future and a potential graduation is likely to increase.
