Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will see two Spider-Men and Venom together in the same place and fans are excited about it.
After Marvel’s Spider-Man’s success on the PlayStation 4 and the Miles Morales DLC’s popularity on the PS5, a sequel was confirmed to be in the works. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was announced in September 2021 and after a two-year wait, the game is about to reach store shelves. For this title, Insomniac Games is delivering on fans’ greatest wish by pitting both Spider-Men against the character’s most iconic enemy.
Players have traditionally wanted to see Venom in almost every Spider-Man game and they are finally getting what they wished for here. A leaked trailer is teasing fans with a sneak peek of what this classic showdown will look like in the upcoming video game.
Is Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PS5?
Venom is set to appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
An upcoming Portuguese-language trailer was leaked ahead of schedule on YouTube and has since made its way across social media. The footage includes a fight scene with Venom taking on both Spider-Men alongside a montage showing some of the outside-the-costume problems both protagonists will be dealing with.
The full version of the trailer was posted on Twitter, where viewers can see many of the “canon events” of Peter Parker’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Players also get a bittersweet scene of Peter standing in front of Aunt Mary’s tombstone following the events of the original game.
The main focus of the short video is Venom, who is seen attacking both Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ Spider-Men as he roars through the city, causing mayhem. Something fans pointed out is how tall Venom is in the game, similar to more modern portrayals of the character rather.
Is Peter Parker going to be Venom in Spider-Man 2?
Venom will be a separate character from Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2, though it’s unclear what will happen during the story.
Something that got confused in the trailers shared during previous showcases, such as the PlayStation showcase. Fans believed Venom would possess Peter Parker as seen in the comic books and the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies. Venom is a symbiote that can take over another person’s body.
It makes sense why gamers thought this would be the case in the video game as well, given how central this has been to the marketing and dedicated Spider-Man 2 accessories. However, this promo shows Venom standing in all his glory and not surviving inside one of the two Spider-Men. Peter Parker is shown to have the symbiote suit during the game so it’s possible that he will have to forcibly separate himself.
Venom will likely be one of the main bosses of Spider-Man 3, but not much more has been shared. The game continues the story of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man game. Players will find out all about Venom when its game releases on October 20, 2023.
