MoistCr1tikal on hiatus? Here’s why and what happened

YouTuber, streamer, and esports content creator Charles “MoistCr1tikal” White is reportedly set to take a hiatus from multiple podcasts, including The Official Podcast, but is he really leaving the internet?

MoistCr1tikal is one of the most prolific content creators around. He has established himself as a popular figure across many fandoms for his takes on everything from video games to anime to combat sports. He’s historically plugged into everything, all the time, but that might not be the case anymore.

Following multiple social media controversies, Charlie is seemingly stepping back. How far and for how long is unclear.

Why is MoistCr1tikal on hiatus?

MoistCr1tikal is looking to dial back his time spent on the internet and is taking an indefinite leave from The Official Podcast. This news came out through a statement from The Official Podcast.

The announcement follows back-to-back social media controversies involving Charlie.

On a recent episode of The Official Podcast, Charlie’s co-host, Kaya Orsan, made questionable comments about Steven “Destiny” Bonnell’s former partner. This led Destiny to watch and comment on an older episode of the podcast where Orsan posited situations where sexually harassing children was appropriate.

Prior to this, he had a back-and-forth with streamer Sneako that saw him defend trans rights and criticize Sneako’s defense of child marriage. This beef was met with questions and bad-faith reactions.

Is MoistCr1tikal really leaving the internet?

MoistCr1tikal is not leaving the internet, but will dial back on his content creation efforts. This includes MoistCr1tikal taking an indefinite hiatus from The Official Podcast and Red Thread.

The Official Podcast will not shut down after Charlie’s departure, and will instead continue on without him. The podcast discussed potentially bringing in a replacement, suggesting that he is gone for good.

“For The Official Podcast specifically, we may consider a replacement in time depending on how things go, but for now, we’re going to continue the show with the three remaining original hosts. In the event we wish to return to a four-host format, we will discuss the possibility of fan-favorite candidates or someone we think fits our vibe and style,” the statement reads.

It’s unclear how this will impact MoistCr1tikal’s other efforts. Alongside his streams, YouTube channels, and podcasts, MoistCr1tikal is part owner of the Moist Esports organization alongside YouTuber Ludwig Ahgren.

Charlie could drop or dial back his efforts from some or all of these different projects. MoistCr1tikal is yet to announce any change his content creation efforts himself.
