Events in MTG Arena give players a variety of rewards ranging from free packs to gems. Because of this, events are the best way to earn gems for free. However, here’s where the tricky part comes in. It requires gold for entry.
The potential exchange of gold for gems is a favorable one for skilled players. Though gold certainly has its uses, gems are a much more precious commodity. This exchange isn’t guaranteed, as players will need to earn their way to getting them. Players need to win a certain number of matches for their gold investment to be worth it.
Take the constructed standard event for example. This event requires players to pay 2,500 gold or 375 gems. Players can earn more than 375 gems, but it’s not easy to do so. In fact, it’s only possible if the player accrues a record of 5-2 or better.
With that being said, quick drafts and constructed events are great for getting gems in MTG Arena, but quick drafts should take priority for those who want to build up their card collection. Constructed events are great for those who want to earn Play-In Points while doing so.
