nmplol and Malena announce break-up, but what happened?

Nick “nmplol” Polom and Malena Tudi have have gone through a break up, shocking fans and friends alike.

Among OTK’s many members, Nick is notably among its most tenured. Nick began streaming part-time in 2016 and befriended Thomas Jefferson “Sodapoppin” Morris IV. Nick and Malena moved in with Thomas in 2018, and have created several memorable streams there. When OTK formed in October 2020, Nick revealed himself as a member just a week after the group’s debut.

For many, the relationship between Nmplol and Malena was a highlight of the ensuing content. In the online world, where relatively drama-free relationships seem rare, Nick and Malena had a refreshingly fun dynamic. Still, every story has an ending, and that was unfortunately the case for the couple’s relationship.

Why did nmplol and Malena break up?

nmplol and Malena mutually broke up to pursue different goals in their lives.  Nick confirmed his breakup with Malena in a tweet.

“Malena and I are wrapping up this chapter in our lives—we’ve decided to end our relationship. We have different goals, and pursuing them means going our separate ways. Thank you so much to the followers and others who have supported us as a team—you’re in our hearts as we start our new chapters,” nmplol said in the tweet.

Notably, Malena had not posted anything on Twitter since June 2024. She retweeted nmplol’s post aboud the break up between him and Malena.

Content creators such as Pokimane, Zoil, Brooke, and many others sent the couple much love following the nmplol and Malena break-up, as did fans. Some fans had noticed Malena’s increasing absences from streams, especially their early morning staples.

During a July 2024 stream, Nick revealed the reason for Malena’s absence. Her mother had just undergone surgery, and so Malena moved back to Spain to support her.

“Yeah, so Malena decided to retire…She decided to retire because it was a lot,” Nick said about Malena’s situation.

While the couple were always friendly with chat, some fans immediately called out audiences for poking around in other people’s private lives. Some even accused fans of the couple of being parasocial for seeking more answers than were being readily provided by the pair.

Public relationships can be difficult for many reasons. Nick and Malena showcased that not every online break-up has to be toxic, however. Sometimes, it can end with mutual messages of respect and an understanding that things just didn’t work out.
