The only Ultra Beast with an evolution, Poipole is available in Pokemon GO for players to catch and evolve into Naganadel; but it’s not necessarily easy to come by.
Pokemon GO regularly adds new Pokemon to the game, either through research challenges, dropping them into regular circulation, or both. While developers added Poipole to the game in March 2024, many fans are still working on evolving it into Naganadel now that the season is over. Many players will want to get themselves this powerful Ultra Beast, but is this still possible?
Here’s how players can catch Poipole in Pokemon GO and evolve it into Naganadel.
How to get Poipole in Pokemon GO
Poipole was released as part of the World of Wonders special research in March 2024 and has not been made available through other means.
The World of Wonders special research mission closed on June 1, meaning that players had to start the research by that date to keep it available past the end of the season. Along with 803 XP, with 803 being Poipole’s Pokedex number, those who finished the first stage were immediately granted the opportunity to catch Poipole. To complete the first research stage, players needed to:
- Catch 20 Pokemon
- Spin 10 Pokestops
- Transfer 10 Pokemon
Poipole was also available through the third timed research of the Wonder ticket, sold in the Pokemon GO shop until June 1. Players could additionally get cherry blossom-wearing Eeveelutions and a special Poipole hat. All three research parts remained open for completion until June 14.
Unfortunately for fans who didn’t start the special research or complete the Wonder ticket in time, they’ll need to wait until PoiPole or Naganadel joins the rotation of Ultra Beasts in raids. Given the current focus on Dynamaxing, it might be a while until Ultra Wormholes return.
It’s likely that Poipole will come available again at some point, whether it’s catchable in the wild or appears as a raid boss.
How to evolve Poipole into Naganadel in Pokemon GO
After unlocking Poipole in Pokemon Go, players must complete the remaining stages of the special research and make the Ultra Beast their buddy.
With five total stages, the World of Wonders special research asks players to perform additional tasks like explore 10 km twice and evolve three poison-type Pokemon. At the end, players who didn’t power up their Poipole will have 200 candies to evolve.
Furthermore, players have to catch 20 dragon-type Pokemon while Poipole is their buddy. While dragon types may be some of the rarer spawns in Pokemon GO, here are some tricks to finding them:
- Use Adventure Incense
- Go to golf courses or landmarks in one’s area
- Check extra during sunny days
The most difficult part of evolving Poipole in Pokemon GO is making sure one gets it during the open window. After that, it’s a matter of completing repetitive special research missions and getting lucky with dragon Pokemon.
