Eevee Terastal

The next Pokemon TCG set has officially been announced. Prismatic Evolutions will bring new Eeveelution cards to the TCG, but which cards are best and what will be the chase card for collectors?

Prismatic Evolutions has been revealed as the next Scarlet and Violet expansion coming to the trading card game, inspired by Japan’s Terastal Festival set. Since then, the mysterious set was given a mysterious announcement at the start of October, Pokemon TCG fans have been beyond excited since the focus will be Eevee and its evolutions. Eevee and the Eeveelutions have been featured on cards in the past, including the Scarlet and Violet 151 set. But very few Eevee-focused decks have been S-tier in the competitive scene.

Now, trainers are already discussing what cards and strategies will be part of the new Eevee deck that’s sure to shake up the meta once it comes out.

When is the Prismatic Evolutions release date?

Prismatic Evolutions will be coming out January 17, 2025.

Terestal Festival will be released in Japan in December, 2024. Since the set largely features existing cards, this will keep some key staples legal in upcoming tournaments over in Japan thanks to the reprint. As ever, the Western Prismatic Evolutions expansion is set to mix and match cards from multiple Japanese releases.

Best cards from Prismatic Evolutions

The Eeveelutiions of the Prismatic Evolutions set will likely shake up the Pokemon TCG meta.

The set will be inspired by the Terestal Festival set, but likely won’t be completely identical. Even then, only 54 cards are known from the Terastal Festival set out of the 187 within the collection.

Top players expect that Eevee-ex will likely shake up the meta with an interesting new mechanic. Eevee’s ability, Rainbow DNA, allows it to evolve into an ex evolution. The versatility of an Eevee deck seems promising, thanks to the Eevees from Astral Radiance and the new ex cards. The kicker is the Crispin supporter card, which will allow players to quickly energize their stellar Tera Pokemon.

Some interesting inclusions could be the Sylveon from the Starter Deck Generations set with the Safeguard ability, preventing it from taking damage from ex Pokemon, Jolteon with its free retreat and strong attack, and Flareon ex, which can search for two energy cards and attach them to a single Pokemon.

Other new cards from Terestal Festival that will potentially end up in Prismatic Evolutions include:

  • Tera Orb: Search your deck for a Tera Pokémon, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.
  • Max Rod (ACE SPEC): Put up to 5 in any combination of Pokémon and Basic Energy cards from your discard pile into your hand.
  • Larry’s Professionalism: Discard your hand, then search your deck for 1 Pokemon, 1 Supporter, and 1 Basic Energy, reveal them, and put them into your hand. Then shuffle your deck.

It will be interesting to see what cards become viable based on the Pokemon that are revealed in this next set. For now, trainers are fixated on collecting all of the Eeveelutions, both for their stunning art and possible viability in the upcoming meta.
