Ready or Not on consoles: What’s known about PS5, Xbox release

Ready or Not for consoles

Ready or Not is seemingly poised for a console release, but what do we know about the probable PS5 and Xbox launch for the game?

Void Interactive debuted its studio to the wider gaming community with Ready or Not. The trailer immediately gave gamers nostalgia for the SWAT series by Sierra Entertainment. Focusing on tactics over run-and-gun gameplay like Call of Duty, it attracted FPS fans who loved a slower pace.

Ready or Not remained exclusive to PC systems for its initial December 2023 release. As with any new studio, the game had its fair share of growing pains. The early months saw many performance issues and bugs, with fans calling for proper optimization. With patches fixing many of those issues, Void Interactive set its sights on a new frontier.

Is Ready or Not coming to PS5 and Xbox?

A leaked teaser trailer entitled “ConsoleTeaser” seemingly confirms a console release for Ready or Not.

The video reportedly pulled from game files showcased an officer finding a room with a TV and console. The officer excitedly picks up a controller to play Ready or Not, to the chagrin of his partner. Notably, the video file dates to early 2024, implying the PS5 and Xbox ports of Ready or Not have been in development for months.

Void Interactive had a data breach in April 2024. Thankfully for the studio, no user or staff data was leaked. However, the source code for console builds of Ready or Not did get leaked, specifically for the PlayStation 4. All this information confirms a console port is in development, with the teaser implying it may be closer to a full release.

Tactical FPS games on consoles have been quite rare. The highest hurdle for such games is usually the amount of controls. Ready or Not features plenty of potential commands and actions, which could prove tricky on a limited controller. Figuring out the macros is another consideration for the PS5 and Xbox ports of Ready or Not.

Even so, getting the game working on launch remains the chief concern among fans. Even avid players of the game acknowledged its many issues, and consoles have a notoriously finicky history with ports. Fans hope Void Interactive takes their time with the PS5 and Xbox ports of Ready or Not.

Unfortunately, there’s still no definitive word regarding a release date for the ports. Fans will likely need to wait for an official reveal to find out about when they can suit up.
