Tyler1 has surprising reunion with LCS after “disowning” the league

Tyler1 LCS stream

League of Legends streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp has just been officially announced as an LCS co-streamer, a surprising “redemption” story for the streamer. Or maybe for the league.

Co-streaming has become a big part of watching the LCS and other regions ahead of international events. Watching popular streamers react to pro matches gives some expert insight, entertaining commentary, and a community to chat with. Now, one of the most popular League of Legends streamers in the world is going to co-host the LCS season.

While Tyler1 may be an aspiring chess grandmaster these days, his come-up still came through League of Legends. He’s set to become a key figure in the North American League of Legends scene, despite being one of its most outspoken critics.

What was the Tyler1 controversy with the LCS?

Tyler1 blasted the LCS and its teams after repeated poor performances in international tournaments.

Tyler1 has been co-streaming League of Legends esports events in recent weeks. Fans enjoy his commentary during that event and his passion for North American teams. But some couldn’t help pointing out that Tyler1 didn’t seem that interested in co-streaming in the past. Others remembered Tyler1 calling out NA in the past, sharing an old copypasta of him “disowning” North American teams.

“I don’t have too much to say. And notice I’m not saying we suck. I’m saying they suck. I’m not a part of NA bro. I don’t care. I don’t care. I disown NA. I don’t care, bro, they’re trash. The most embarrassingly pathetic games I’ve seen in my life, bro,” Tyler1 said at the time.

But it seems times have changed. As one of the largest League of Legends streamers from North America, it’s big news for his fans.

Tyler1 humbly announces LCS co-streaming

On X, the official LCS profile announced that Tyler1 would be co-streaming matches. It was unclear if he was co-streaming for Week 6 or for a longer period of time.

Tyler1 retweeted with a message of his own to fans: “That’s what’s needed: Passion, power, knowledge. Not everybody can be as great as me. I understand that. I’m tall, strong, athletic, smart, 2000 rated chess player almost, beautiful family, long, luscious hair. I’m a staggering mountain of mass.”

He then added that he’s “really excited to watch North America’s best,” adding that it’s the best if Tyler1 isn’t included himself.

Fans can tune in to Tyler1’s LCS co-stream on his Twitch channel here. Will he save the LCS? Only time will tell.
