When the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle review embargo lifts

indiana jones and the great circle

The release date of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is on the horizon and excited players will want to know when they can expect the review embargo to lift so they can get a proper read on the game.

Indiana Jones may be past his prime in recent movies, but that doesn’t mean the love for the series has died. With nostalgia coming at a premium in almost all forms of media, the announcement that MachineGames was working on a first-person Indiana Jones game turned many heads. When fans finally got their first look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the reception was generally positive.

But with the release date for the game approaching, many fans are now skeptical of ZeniMax Media and Xbox. There have been multiple controversies and misfires involving the companies, foremost among them being frustration over Starfield. This has tamped down excitement over other upcoming releases, with the most notable being Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Here’s when reviews for the game will go live, so you can see if a pre-order is warranted.

When will Indiana Jones and The Great Circle’s review embargo lift?

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s review embargo will be lifted on December 5, 2024 at 4 pm PT, 7 pm ET.

According to MP1st, reviews for the Indiana Jones first-person shooter will start rolling out at that time. For context, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches on December 9, while early access starts three days earlier on December 6. The review embargo lifts just one day before early access for the game kicks off.

Some developers lift the review embargo for games weeks before release dates to build excitement. However, ZeniMax-owned studios are known for cutting it close. A good example is Starfield, which had its review embargo lifted just eight hours before the game’s early access release. MachineGames’ previous game Wolfenstein: Youngblood followed a similar formula.

The silver lining for many fans is that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will see a day-one Xbox Game Pass release. Many PC and Xbox gamers will likely play the game through Xbox’s subscriptions. PlayStation fans will have enough time to decide whether they want to buy Indiana Jones and the Great Circle when it comes out for the PS5.
