Excitement has been brewing ever since the release of Hogwarts Legacy for another new Harry Potter game: Quidditch Champions. But will that new game be a part of Hogwarts Legacy?
That’s the question fans have been asking ever since it was first revealed that a quidditch game was in development. As development continues, we’re getting a better idea of the answer.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions looks to be a standalone game
While many fans were hoping that Quidditch Champions would be integrated into Hogwarts Legacy, it’s looking like it’ll be a brand new standalone game. This has looked to be the case dating back to he Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions beta period in June 2023, which did not require an installation of Hogwarts Legacy.
This was further reinforced with a new leak of footage seemingly taken from the game. The footage shows a distinctly different art style than that seen in Hogwarts Legacy, making it even more clear that this is a new and fully separate game.
This won’t be entirely unwelcome news for franchise fans. While having Quidditch Champions be a part of Hogwarts Legacy would have been convenient, many players were critical of the flying gameplay in Hogwarts Legacy. Smooth and satisfying flying is paramount for Quidditch Champions, which is played entirely in the air as players compete on flying broomsticks.
There are now questions as to whether the game will release at full price, or if it will be free-to-play. A free-to-play release could be monetized with cosmetic items, as is the case with many popular free-to-play games such as League of Legends and Valorant.
