Wuthering Waves: The best ways to reduce lag on PC

jinhsi wuthering waves

Wuthering Waves is a surprisingly taxing game for some machines, and players may need to reduce lag through different means.

Despite technological advancements, several games remain unoptimized on many machines. Most developers, especially those in flashy action games like Wuthering Waves, prioritize graphical fidelity on high-end machines vs broad optimization.

As a result, Wuthering Waves can suffer from performance issues. Many players reported different fixes for their particular copies of the game. Since there’s no surefire way to resolve every issue, checking all potential options is best.

Best ways to reduce lag in Wuthering Waves on PC

Players can make adjustments on both the software and hardware end of their setup to improve their connection when playing Wuthering Waves on PC. Many different factors can impact players’ experience, both with the game itself and with their internet. Here are some of the proven ways players have improved performance in Wuthering Waves:

Update Game Drivers

Updating game drivers should always be the first step when resolving performance issues. Developers typically patch games with the latest graphics drivers in mind, and incompatibilities result in performance issues.

Players can update most game drivers from their respective desktop apps. Search for the app on the machine and see if any updates are pending. Check the Windows OS for any potential updates, as these also affect performance while pending.

Adjust in-game settings

While in-game, Wuthering Waves provides plenty of settings to adjust to player preference. If a setting can be set to low or turned off entirely, do so. Wuthering Waves still looks decent enough, even on the lowest settings.

The most important settings to turn off in Wuthering Waves are V-Sync and Motion Blur. Hundreds of players have reported a marked increase in performance after turning off these features.

Disable external apps

If too many apps are open simultaneously,  the CPU may not prioritize Wuthering Waves. To minimize the impact of external apps, close them all entirely while playing Wuthering Waves.

Players report performance issues with Windows Game Bar and NVidia GeForce. Other apps, like Discord and OBS, may also cause performance issues with Wuthering Waves.

Install on SSD

Players report that installing Wuthering Waves on an HDD significantly impacts performance. To resolve the issue, simply reinstall the game onto an SSD. For players without an SSD, the best they can do is, at the very least, install it on an internal HDD, not an external one.

These days, players should invest in an SSD, as most games require one to run smoothly. In addition to faster games, an SSD makes system startup much faster.

Change server region

If none of the above works, then the issues may lie server-side instead of the machine. Wuthering Waves runs best on the machine’s home region, so North American players should stick to their servers.

On that note, VPNs may also increase ping, even if it’s within the same region. Turning off the VPN while gaming may improve Wuthering Waves’ performance.
