The WWE 2K series returns with WWE 2K24 and fans now know the different versions that are coming and what will come packaged within each edition of the game, as well as its release date.
The game is releasing on the “40th anniversary of WrestleMania,” and 2K Games is going all in on the celebrations. WWE 2K24 will be partly built upon that and will receive a special edition celebrating the milestone. The reveal also confirmed what else is coming with the next installment in the series.
WWE will feature new modes and new mechanics, including the ability to move the camera during live gameplay. Longtime fans of the wrestling video game will also be delighted to see improvements to the ramp and dive cameras. Before delving into that though, players will need to actually purchase the game. Here are all the different versions of WWE 2K24 that have been revealed, what’s included in each edition, and which ones are worth getting.
What are the WWE 2K24 versions, differences with each edition
WWE 2K24 has a standard version, Deluxe Edition, and the 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition. As with previous installments in the series, the premium versions offer bundled DLC and other bonus content for the MyFaction mode.
WWE 2K24 will have a DLC pre-order bonus in the Nightmare Family Pack. The bundle includes two alternate versions of Cody Rhodes in Stardust and Undashing Cody Rhodes, as well as alternate costumes for Dusty Rhodes and Superstar Billy Graham. Alongside theseare MyFaction cards for Cody Rhodes, Dusty Rhodes, and Cody’s dog Pharoah. The Nightmare Family Pack is available with a pre-order of any version of WWE 2K24.
The premium versions of the game offer other extra DLC as well. WWE 2K24 Deluxe Edition includes:
- Standard edition of WWE 2K24
- Cross-gen console availability (PlayStation and Xbox only)
- WWE 2K24 Season Pass
- Nightmare Family Pack
- New attires for Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair with accompanying MyFaction cards
- Three-day early access period
WWE 2K24 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition includes everything in the Deluxe and the following bonuses:
- WrestleMania 40 Arena
- New attires based on wrestlers’ WrestleMania outfits including WrestleMania 30 Triple H, WrestleMania 36 Rhea Ripley, WrestleMania 6 Macho Man Randy Savage, WrestleMania 32 Charlotte Flair, and WrestleMania 22 Rey Mysterio
- Accompanying MyFaction cards based on new attires
The bonus content for WWE 2K24 40 Years of WrestleMania will not be available at launch and is instead slated for release in Summer 2024.
The game will launch with console-specific price tags, with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions costing $59.99, while it’s $69.99 to get the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Digital purchases of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game offer access to the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively.
WWE 2K 24 Deluxe Edition costs $99.99 while 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition costs $120.
Which version of WWE 2K24 should I buy?
WWE 2K24’s basic version or Deluxe Edition will likely be the best value for players.
Players who just want to have the latest wrestling sim handy will be just fine with the basic version of the game. Unless there’s a rug-pull when it comes to create-a-wrestler features, players will be treated to loads of wrestlers in the base game and can download fan creations to fill the gaps both within the WWE roster and for those who left the company.
The WWE 2K24 Deluxe Edition version carries the same price tag as purchasing both the base game and the season pass that has all the DLC characters but adds some extra perks on top of it including early access and more new costumes. Those who would’ve purchased the season pass regardless have no reason not to get the Deluxe Edition. This is doubly the case for those who don’t want to pre-order the game, as it also gives access to the Nightmare Family Pack.
The premium versions of WWE 2K24 don’t necessarily have that same value-add. WWE 2K24 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition adds five new attires, an arena, and MyFaction cards for $20. These bonuses can be purchased after the fact as DLC, so there’s no fear of missing out.
WWE 2K24 release date confirmed
WWE 2K24 will be released on March 8, 2024, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
The standard edition features Cody Rhodes on the cover, and the deluxe edition has Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley. It is the first time in the history of WWE videogames that two women are featured on the cover. The 40 Years of WrestleMania edition has popular wrestlers on the cover, including John Cena and The Rock.
A major selling point of the premium versions of WWE 2K24 is early access, with the Deluxe Edition and 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition launching on March 5, 2024.
WWE 2K24 will let players experience the most iconic moments in WWE history. The new mode will mix live-action footage of actual matches with gameplay to take players back to the greatest hits, similar to other recent installments in the series.
