Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Amiibos – Which work & what they do

Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom gameplay

Every new Zelda game lets Nintendo fans scan Amiibos and earn rewards, including the latest, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

Nintendo had a billion-dollar idea when it came to Amiibos. Though the figurines typically don’t offer any transformative in-game reward, most major Nintendo releases incorporate them in some way. A go-to option is swiping specific Amiibos for in-game rewards.

In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, players can scan the Amiibos right at the system screen and obtain exclusive rewards. The rewards range from useful consumables to unique outfits, so scanning Amiibos is always recommended.

Which Amiibos work in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Amiibos?

In Echoes of Wisdom, players can only use Amiibos from The Legend of Zelda games or Smash Bros Amiibos for Zelda characters. That’s the catch in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Amiibos usage, and it stands as a step back from other games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

If a player has Splatoon or Animal Crossing Amiibos, those won’t work. All of the Amiibo cards will also come up as incompatible, so there’s no point in scanning them.

All The Legend of Zelda-focused Amiibos will work, however. Everything from the Breath of the Wild’s Guardian, to Midna and Wolf Link, to the eight-bit Link will work. However, Super Smash Bros Amiibos are compatible with the new Zelda game if they are Amiibos of Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, or Sheik.

Another restriction is that players can only scan three Amiibos daily to get rewards. Players who beat the Hyrule Castle part of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will get three extra scans that day. The system clock trick works here if a player wants to circumvent the restrictions. Players can simply go into the system settings, move the clock to the next day, and then scan Amiibos again.

All Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Amiibo outfits and other rewards

Scanning Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Amiibos rewards the player with special outfits and crafting ingredients.

Before the Hyrule Castle Dungeon or after unlocking the outfits, players can scan three different Amiibos a day to get smoothie ingredients. The rewards are given randomly; here’s the list of potential drops:

  • Chilly Cactus
  • Electro Apple
  • Floral Nectar
  • Fresh Milk
  • Golden Egg
  • Monster Fang
  • Monster Guts
  • Monster Stone
  • Radiant Butter
  • Refreshing Grapes
  • Riverhorse
  • Rock Salt
  • Rocktato
  • Tough Mango
  • Warm Pepper

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom allows players to get up to three Amiibo rewards each day. After advancing deep enough to the game though, players will likely find these rewards to be trivial, short of fishing for Golden Eggs.

How to get Amiibo outfits in Echoes of Wisdom

Players can get Amiibo outfits after advancing past the Hyrule Castle Dungeon area, then scanning specific Amiibos. The outfits are based upon which character’s Amiibo is being scanned.

There are three exclusive outfits locked behind Amiibos. Scan Amiibos after finishing the fourth main dungeon (Hyrule Castle Dungeon) to get the outfits.

  • Blue Attire– All Zelda Amiibos, including any iteration of Zelda or Smash Bros Sheik
  • Red Tunic – All Link Amiibos
  • Black Cat Clothes – All other The Legend of Zelda Amiibos, including any Ganondorf, Breath of the Wild champions, or monsters

The Amiibo outfits are cosmetic only, except for the Black Cat Costume, which lets players talk to cats throughout the game. Much like Tears of the Kingdom, the Black Cat Costume can be found in the game by playing normally. This allows players to earn the players that don’t have Amiibos.
