The Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White is coming just in time for the holiday season, if fans can manage to get it.
Steam is releasing its second limited-edition Steam Deck after the November 2023 success of the smoky translucent version. With the Nintendo Switch successor looming, the Steam Deck hosts a large number of popular games and is quite powerful for a handheld gaming device. However, the large price tag isn’t going to improve just because the color of the Steam Deck is changing to white for a limited time.
Here’s how much the Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White version costs and how players can get a hold of it.
White Steam Deck to cost nearly as much as the PS5 Pro
Fans can get the new Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White for $679, $30 more than its black counterpart.
The official announcement has clarified that the new limited-edition Steam Deck will have the same features as the 1 TB black Steam Deck OLED, which retails at $649. Key specs include:
- I TB Storage
- 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display for better picture than an LCD screen
- Up to 90Hz refresh rate
- Wi-Fi 6E
The main differences between the limited edition Steam Deck and the plain black version come down to coloring and accessories. The new edition comes in white and gray without the need for a shell or button pads. In addition to the console, those who order will also receive a white carrying case and microfiber cleaning cloth.
Most of the reason for the boosted price tag likely comes from the limited-edition console’s exclusivity. Steam has reportedly only made a certain number of white Steam Decks and will not be making more at this time. It’s currently unknown if the product will return at a later date.
How to get the limited-edition white Steam Deck
The new white Steam Deck goes on sale on November 18 directly through Steam and the official Steam website.
Players interested in upgrading to the Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White have to meet a few basic requirements. First, they must be located in one of Steam’s current shipping regions. These include the United States, EU, and East Asian countries accessible with Komodo. Additionally, players must have made a Steam purchase prior to November 2024 and have an account in good standing.
Given that the new Steam Deck is a limited edition product, only one unit is allowed per account. Those who plan to order one should get their trigger fingers ready and hope they get one of the few consoles available. Maybe the white paint job will make Monster Hunter Wilds run better.
