Aang, Avatar characters likely coming to Fortnite with event pass

Avatar: The Last Airbender may be coming to Fortnite in the Mid-Season Event Pass.

Nickelodeon continues its push for an Avatar: The Last Airbender renaissance. After the disappointment of the first live-action movie and the treatment of Legend of Korra, Nickelodeon likely felt it was safer to tap into what it already knew was a success. With a Netflix adaptation gaining traction despite mixed reception, Nickelodeon wants to capitalize on the nostalgia as much as possible.

Fortnite also looks to bank on nostalgia for some of its own success. For the past five seasons of Fortnite, it has included iconic animated characters such as Goku, Naruto, Miles Morales, and Rick Sanchez. The recent equity acquisition in Epic Games by Disney shows there are no signs of stopping. Recent reports suggest ATLA may join that roster soon.

Will Aang be in Fortnite?

Neither Nickelodeon nor Epic Games have confirmed Aang in Fortnite, but reports suggest he will be in the game. A notable Fortnite leaker with the handle “iFireMonkey” reports that Aang will be debuting on the battle bus in the Mid-Season Event Pass.

In addition to a playable Aang, the ATLA event promises new quests and cosmetic items related to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Players can obtain the Appa Glider by collecting six books, which is achievable through quests. Aang will reportedly get a Lego version alongside the regular.

In the past, iFireMonkey accurately reported details on the Metal Gear Solid crossover and an Among Us collaboration. The data for the ATLA collaboration came from data mining Fortnite’s API. The release date of the next Fortnite season, Chapter 5 Season 2, is expected sometime in March 2024. Seasons typically last 10 weeks, so Aang could debut in Fortnite in April 2024 as part of the new Mid-Season Event Pass.

Will other Avatar: The Last Airbender characters be in Fortnite?

There is no confirmation that Avatar: The Last Airbender characters will be playable in Fortnite besides Aang.  But once he arrives, it’s hard to imagine Epic Games won’t capitalize on ATLA’s ensemble cast. The rest of the Gaang, such as Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko, would be easy picks for the next batch of ATLA characters.

Fortnite tends to pull as many notable characters from iconic franchises as Epic Games thinks it can profit from. The Dragon Ball series boasts a handful of characters from across all eras who appear in Fortnite, and ATLA will likely do the same if the Aang debut is a success.
