The official reveal of the Ace Attorney Investigation Collection was followed by Capcom’s confirmation of its platforms, release date, and games.
Ace Attorney, the visual novel franchise by Capcom, is in a bit of a lull. While the series has a dedicated and sizeable fanbase, it hasn’t gotten a mainline entry since 2016’s Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice, which was initially released for the Nintendo 3DS and became playable on modern consoles in early 2024.
Alongside reveals like the Dragon Age original trilogy remake, the June 18, 2024 Nintendo Direct included a new Ace Attorney remastered bundle. Ace Attorney’s presence in the event had already been leaked, although players didn’t know whether that would entail the announcement of a new mainline game, spin-off game, or another collection for current-gen consoles.
What games are in the Ace Attorney Investigation Collection?
Ace Attorney Investigation Collection is a bundle of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and its sequel Ace Attorney Investigations 2.
Unlike the mainline Ace Attorney games that have players play as defense attorneys, these games have players fill the shoes of Phoenix Wright’s rival, Miles Edgeworth. The first game is set between the events of the third and fourth mainline games and was one of the best-selling games of 2009 in Japan.
While most fans were hoping for a new game in the series, there’s a silver lining in Capcom releasing yet another Ace Attorney compilation. While Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth was released for the Nintendo DS, iOS, and Android worldwide, the sequel was only released in Japan. This marks the first time the game will receive an official release in Western markets and the first time it will receive an official English translation.
Both games have new HD sprites designed by the Investigations series’ original character designer, Tatsuro Iwamoto. Additionally, players also have the option to play the game in the original pixel art style.
Ace Attorney Investigation Collection release date, platforms revealed
Ace Attorney Investigation Collection is slated to be released on September 6, 2024, for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
The collection is available to pre-order now. Fans who pre-order the game will get five extra arranged tracks for use in-game or from the gallery, but it’s unknown if there will be an enhanced or premium edition.
As for the physical release, the official website only reveals a physical release for the Nintendo Switch. It’s unknown if other platforms will get physical releases too, or if it’s a Nintendo-exclusive thing.
