With its release date just several weeks away, horror game Alan Wake 2 has been delayed. Thankfully, it’s only been pushed back a relatively short while.
The next four months are set to be an embarrassment of riches for gamers. Just in September, Starfield, the console launch of Baldur’s Gate 3, and the release of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC are all slated. October brings Assassins Creed Mirage, Lords of the Fallen, Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Endless Dungeon. That’s just the tip of the iceberg and doesn’t even touch everything in November and December.
Alan Wake 2 is still set to release during that window, but players will have to wait a bit longer to play it. Don’t worry, though. It actually is a short delay.
Alan Wake 2 receives new release date
Alan Wake 2 is releasing on October 27, 2023, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It was previously slated to release on October 17.
The game’s official Twitter account posted about the delay. The delay is a short one that will allow Alan Wake 2 some breathing room. Though it didn’t name any names, the move puts some space between its launch and the releases of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Forza Motorsport.
The launch date delay puts Alan Wake right near another survival horror title, Alone in the Dark which releases on October 25. It will also have to directly compete for time and money against the likes of Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bro. Wonder, which both release on October 20. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection and Cities: Skylines 2 are releasing on October 24, just before Alan Wake 2.
Is there a co-op in Alan Wake 2?
No, Alan Wake is a single-player game.
Alan Wake is still a prominent character in the game but Remedy Entertainment is introducing Saga Anderson, an FBI agent sent to investigate ritualistic murders in Bright Falls. Both Wake and Anderson will be playable characters in the game. While fans might think that this would make for a co-op experience, that’s not the case.
Instead of Resident Evil 5, Alan Wake 2 plays more like Resident Evil 2. Both protagonists embark on their own separate journeys that intersect on some occasions. The separate single-player stories can be played in any order. Alan and Saga are both shown equipped with firearms and a flashlight.
Alan Wake is directly connected to another Remedy Entertainment game, Control. The developers aim to support the game with free content and two paid expansions entitled Night Springs and The Lake House.
