New information suggests that Final Fantasy games, including Final Fantasy 16, FF7 Remake, and Final Fantasy Pixels Remasters might come to Xbox soon.
Square Enix’s popular franchise is arguably the definitive RPG series, but there’s one criticism that basically everyone agrees on; the recent PlayStation exclusivity arrangements haven’t served anyone well. While Final Fantasy was multi-platform for a time, FF7 Remake, FF7 Rebirth, and FF16 all had PlayStation exclusivity windows. Even Square Enix acknowledges that this was a mistake.
The topic of Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming to Xbox isn’t new. However, Microsoft never officially announced or released anything outside what seems to have been a mistake on Twitter. This might change as according to new information one or multiple Final Fantasy games might be revealed for the Xbox soon.
Which Final Fantasy game will come to Xbox?
One of the newer Final Fantasy games is reportedly set to receive a release on Xbox release.
On the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Jez Corden of Windows Central talks about the possibility of the latest entries in the series coming to Xbox. Corden claims that he has heard the whole slate is on the docket. He further states that this includes the Final Fantasy 7 Remake games, Final Fantasy 16, and FF Pixel Remasters.
In an earlier episode of the podcast, Corden pushed back against fan discourse surrounding the Final Fantasy franchise. He said fans thought Sony had locked down the Final Fantasy 7 Remake but that isn’t the case. Cordern elaborated that FF7 Remake will come to the Xbox eventually.
When will FF7 Remake and Final Fantasy 16 release on Xbox?
It is unknown when FF7 Remake or Final Fantasy 16 will be released on Xbox, but plans will reportedly be revealed later this year.
Corden stated the Final Fantasy 7 Remake games will come to Xbox eventually but he isn’t sure when. He speculated that the trilogy is incomplete so Square Enix may wait until the third and final entry. Square Enix indicated plans to re-release some of its AAA titles that were exclusive to PlayStation across mother platforms.
Corden said that he thinks something will be revealed by Microsoft at the 2024 Xbox Tokyo Game Show. According to what Corden said, FF7 Remake might not get revealed. However, Final Fantasy 16 might be revealed in the event.
The Xbox Tokyo Game Show will be streamed starting on September 26, 2024, and the lineup hasn’t been announced. However, if Corden is correct then fans might get to see a Final Fantasy announcement.
