Controversial streamer Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt’s streaming account zackrawrr has been banned from Twitch and fans wonder whether the ban is permanent.
Asmongold is a streamer who thrives on drama. Though he initially rose to fame by grinding World of Warcraft, his recent content primarily focuses on reacting to the content drama du jour. This has landed him in hot water on more than one occasion, though he’s in deeper than usual right now.
The streamer is in the news again for his remarks on the situation in Gaza in a stream. Both Twitch and Asmongold came under fire from the public due to the streamer’s remark and it looks like the streaming platform is trying to appease the public. Twitch has banned Asmongold’s zackrawrr account and fans want to know whether it is permanent.
Why did Twitch ban Asmongold?
Twitch has banned Asmongold’s zackrawrr streaming account after an anti-Palestinian rant.
During a stream, Asmongold went on a diatribe that was broadly criticized and labeled as racist. Many people took to X to ask Twitch to ban the streamer. They claimed that Asmongold violated Twitch’s guidelines and are grounds for the streamer being banned from the platform.
“These people are not your allies, they are not the same as us, they come from an inferior culture that is horrible, it kills people for their identity and is directly antithetical to everything western values stand for,” Asmongold said during the rant.
Streamer Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker even invited Asmongold to his YouTube channel to debate. While Asmongold backed down from his statements, he didn’t say he was wrong. Asmongold put out a post on the matter on his X account but stopped short of actually apologizing.
Twitch didn’t issue any public statements but banned Asmongold’s zackrawrr Twitch account. While Asmongold’s main Twitch account is live, the streamer can’t use it. If he streams using his main channel while his other account is suspended, it would count as ban evasion. This would likely see his Asmongold channel shut down and potentially get all his channels terminated.
Is Asmongold’s Twitch ban permanent?
Asmongold is not permanently banned from Twitch. Opening Asmongold’s zackrawrr Twitch channel shows that the channel has been suspended “temporarily” so the streamer will likely return.
According to Rod “Slasher” Breslau, the ban will be in place for two weeks.
By Twitch standards, this is a relatively lengthy ban. This infractions typically range anywhere between 24 hours and 30 days. Twitch generally defaults to banning streamers for three or seven days.
