Why Twitch banned DJ Akademiks and when he’ll be back

Popular streamer Livingston “DJ Akademiks” Allen has been banned on Twitch for the fourth time, and fans are wondering why he was banned and when he’ll be back.

DJ Akademiks made a name for himself by reporting hip-hop news and drama in his starting days. After that, the streamer gained massive popularity and Akademiks started to stream on multiple platforms. The streamer even had the ninth-largest YouTube channel in terms of streaming in the third quarter of 2024.

However, the streamer hasn’t had the same good luck on other streaming platforms. Akademiks has been banned from Twitch three times for varying reasons. Now, on October 15, 2024, Akademiks has been banned from the streaming platform Twitch again, and here’s all we know about the ban.

Why did Twitch ban DJ Akademiks?

DJ Akademiks was banned after a collaboration with Adin Ross, a streamer who is indefinitely ban from Twitch. Though Twitch is uneven with these punishments, this was likely too close to ban evasion for Twitch’s liking.

Twitch is infamous for inconsistent punishments when banning a streamer. However, opening DJ Akademiks’ channel shows that the channel is unavailable due to violating Twitch’s guidelines.

Akademiks was live on October 15, 2024, the same day he received his ban. The streamer was collaborating with Kick content creator Adin Ross. Akademiks’ discussion with Adin revolved around OnlyFans models and sexually transmitted diseases.

The subject of the discussion might not be why the streamer was banned from Twitch, though. Current Kick streamer Adin Ross was banned from Twitch in 2023 for unmoderated hateful conduct displayed in his chats. Ross showed the offensive chat on stream which led to his termination. Adin Ross has made overtures and expressed his desire to return to Twitch, but currently remains banned from the platform.

Is Akademics permanently banned?

Akademiks Twitch channel confirms the suspension is temporary but it is uncertain when the streamer will be unbanned. It is confirmed that Akademiks’ Twitch ban isn’t permanent, as the channel says that his content is “temporarily unavailable.” Permanently banned streamers have content that is described as “currently unavailable.”

However, there is no known return date. The duration of temporary bans on Twitch depend on the offense, the number of times the streamer has been banned, and other variables.

Akademiks might be back to streaming in 3 days or it might take longer if Twitch deems his offense worth more punishment. Fans will need to wait and see when the streamer will return to the platform.
