Castlevania: Nocturne was a worthy, if uneven, sequel series to Netflix’s Castlevania, but is there going to be a Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2?
As a loose adaptation of two of Castlevania’s most iconic games, Rondo of Blood and Symphony of The Night, Castlevania: Nocturne had a massive cross to bear. Fortunately for fans of the iconic game franchise, Nocturne continued the grim and cynical tone of its predecessor.
Nocturne was praised for its animation, themes, and voice acting but was criticized for its rushed pacing and uneven character development. Still, it drew enough interest that fans clamored for a second season, especially after its stinger of an ending scene.
Is Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 canceled or confirmed?
Netflix released an official announcement trailer that confirmed Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2.
However, it only showed clips from Season 1. Given how the announcement came just a week after Castlevania: Nocturne’s release, it’s likely the studio hadn’t animated anything for the upcoming season.
Netflix has an unfortunate track record of canceling shows that aren’t instant hits, but Castlevania: Nocturne has not been canceled. The greenlighting of Season 2 so soon after its debut means the streaming company likely has a lot of faith in the gothic series. Inside Job aside, Netflix is generally slower to axe animated series so fans can reasonably expect this to come to fruition.
What is Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2’s release date?
Netflix has not announced a release date for Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2.
However, it’s unlikely for Season 2 to be any later than 2026. For context, Netflix’s Castlevania had four seasons. The longest gap between seasons was the two years between Season 2 and Season 3. Every other seasonal gap only lasted a year.

Given how Netflix was so quick to greenlight it, it’s likely production started on Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 before the public announcement. With the experience that the showrunners have amassed over five seasons of Castlevania, a 2024 release date is hypothetically possible but not necessarily likely. There’s little rhyme or reason to what sort of marketing push it will get, as Arcane Season 2‘s release date was announced almost a year in advance while fans only had a couple of months of warning before Baki Hanma Season 2. All this means that fans will likely just have to wait until official news comes out.
Will Richter Belmont and Alucard be in Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2?
Richter Belmont and Alucard will star in Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2.

The stinger ending of Castlevania: Nocturne sees Alucard make his 18th-century debut. In one of the most memorable scenes from the series, Alucard effortlessly slays Drolta, one of the more powerful vampires that Richter faced in Nocturne.
Given his cold and snarky attitude towards Richter Belmont, the two will likely butt heads more than once. Nocturne loosely adapts parts of Symphony of the Night, which involved a possessed Richter Belmont fighting Alucard. There could be a spectacular fight scene between Richter and Alucard in Season 2.
