Data miners have discovered Drax, Mantis, and Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy among the new crossover skins coming to Fortnite.
Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 2 recently launched and brought heroes and villains of Greek mythology to the forefront. Zeus, Hades, and Artemis stepped down from their Olympus thrones for a good old-fashioned battle royale. Still, it’s not just classical heroes filling out the ranks.
Superheroes are prime crossover material for the ever-popular Fortnite. The Guardians of the Galaxy stands out as one of the most loveable and critically acclaimed superhero teams in the modern era. Season 8 saw Star-Lord and Gamora join the roster, albeit without the rest of their team. Rocket Raccoon also arrived in Chapter 2: Season 4, albeit only as a pet as his hitbox would’ve made even Goldeneye 64’s Oddjob blush. Fortunately for fans, the team can finally be complete.
Drax, Mantis, and Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy trade spaceships for battle buses in Fortnite
A data miner found images of Drax, Mantis, and Groot as upcoming Fortnite skins.
XTigerHyperX on Twitter posted a picture of the three Guardians. Like their previously released cohorts, their appearances seamlessly blend the MCU and comic book designs into Fortnite’s distinctive style. Groot’s design looks more like his buff appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 and he has a similarly hefty melee weapon.
With their inclusion, the full Guardians of the Galaxy squad from the MCU will be complete. Of course, the book isn’t closed on the franchise. At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, Rocket Raccoon leads a new team composed of Cosmo the Space Dog, Adam Warlock, Phyla, Groot, and Kraglin. They may come in a future update.
Drax, Mantis, and Groot also arrive in Lego Fortnite
Lego Fortnite skins will also be added for the Guardians of the Galaxy Drax, Mantis, and Groot.
The Greek god heroes and villains also had Lego skins, so Epic will likely bundle these together for the foreseeable future. With how successful Lego Fortnite has been and how active Epic Games has been with adding skins to the spin-off, it’s an unsurprising move.
Although the MCU’s success has dipped since Endgame, it’s still a goldmine of crossover potential for Fortnite. After Disney’s partnership with Epic Games, Fortnite will likely have regular crossovers with Marvel for as long as the deal is active.
