The story trailer of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has been leaked, giving a variety of new details to fans.

Ubisoft’s upcoming title Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is the first mainline Prince of Persia game to be released since 2010’s Forgotten Sands. The 2.5D platformer was revealed earlier this year with a gameplay trailer, showcasing just how different the game is from recent Prince of Persia games. The story trailer of the game that was probably intended to debut at The Game Awards was leaked a few hours before it, giving fans information on when be released.

The leaked trailer showed multiple new facets of the game. In addition to revealing details on the story and cosmetics for the protagonist, fans also know when they can expect to see the demo hit digital stores.

What is Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown?

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is an upcoming 2.5D platform game set in the Prince of Persia universe.

The game is being developed and published by Ubisoft and it features time powers similar to previous installments in the Prince of Persia series. The main location this side-scrolling adventure takes place in is Mount Qaf, which is located in Persia and called the farthest point of the Earth in Arabic tradition.

In Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, players play as a new character named Sargon instead of the prince from the previous installments in the series. The trailer reveals that Sargon is deployed by the Queen to Mount Qaf alongside an elite group called “The Immortals” to rescue the kidnapped Prince Ghassan.

This game promises to put players up against several puzzles and mythological monsters as they acquire and equip new amulets to take advantage of new powers to solve the mysteries of Mount Qaf and save Prince Ghassan. The game has high-flying moves and abilities, but also hearkens back to the original Prince of Persia titles from the 1980s and 1990s.

When will Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown be released?

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will be released on January 18, 2024, for PS4 and PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows.

For fans who want to try out the game before they buy it, there will be an option to do so. The leaked trailer reveals that a week before the game’s release date, there will be a demo available for players to test the game. The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown demo will be released on January 11, 2024.

Although the trailer was probably supposed to be released as part of The Game Awards, Playstation Brazil accidentally uploaded it early to its YouTube channel, giving fans this information several hours earlier. Though it’s currently unknown if Ubisoft’s leaked Assassin’s Creed Red will be making an appearance at the show.
