Battlestate Games has answered a long-time request from Escape from Tarkov players and is finally dropping a new map named Ground Zero alongside the vaulting mechanic in the next wipe.
Battlestate Games’ hit closed-beta title Escape from Tarkov is getting a new map. A showcase has been released that gives players a visual idea of what the map will look like and how big it will be. Although the map is the biggest addition coming to the game, there will be many other notable additions to the game.
Escape from Tarkov’s next wipe will a new movement option, changes to armor, and various improvements. While Ground Zero is a big deal, it’s only the tip of the iceberg.
When will the Escape from Tarkov map Ground Zero be released?
The map Ground Zero will be released in Escape from Tarkov as part of its December wipe update. According to the preliminary roadmap shared by the official Escape from Tarkov account, the wipe update will be released in December 2023, although no exact date has not been shared yet.
Based on the reveal trailer, the new map will be much smaller compared to other maps in the game. Ground Zero will also feature a lot of indoor areas, which means more chokepoints and tight spaces to maneuver through.
The map is being made for casual players in particular and has a lower cap than some other maps. Although not confirmed, the estimated level cap is 15 to 20. If a player exceeds that level, the map won’t be accessible as a PMC, although it will still be playable as their Scavs.
What will be in the next wipe for Escape from Tarkov?
Escape from Tarkov’s December wipe update will add the new Ground Zero map alongside other optimization, achievements, recoil and armor changes, and a brand-new vaulting mechanic.
Aside from the brand-new map, the most recent patch promises better optimization for the game. This is a highlight for many, as several players have reported being unable to play due to the high system requirements.
The next Escape from Tarkov wipe will also introduce vaulting to the game, which was shown in a video uploaded by the official Escape from Tarkov account. The way armor works in the game is also being updated with distinct armor plates having different durabilities and protection. Finally, the game will also have achievements now, similar to the Counter-Strike games which this game has frequently been compared with.
