Gamers believed that Midnight Society and its game Deadrop were, well, dead when Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm was dropped. But Midnight Society recently revealed some updates for believers, alongside details on Deadrop’s release date and refund opportunities.
Dr Disrespect fans were beyond excited when the Two-Time initially announced Midnight Society and its first game, a battle royale where players had to scramble upwards to escape. Though many vented over its emphasis on NFTs, the game itself intrigued many.
Earlier this year, Dr Disrespect was removed from Midnight Society when he admitted to sending inappropriate messages to a minor. At that point, some fans felt that Deadrop was basically done for. Without a famous face like Dr Disrespect leading the charge, would the game have any cred in the gaming community? It looks like Midnight Society is still giving it a try.
Deadrop release date confirmed
Deadrop’s release date is set for Q4 2024.
Despite the controversy and split from Dr Disrespect, it looks like Deadrop isn’t dealing with many setbacks. The game was previously announced to be targeting a release in the final months of 2024. Despite everything, the studio is still on target to do so.

Even though the game is coming out this year, not much is known about Deadrop. There haven’t been many official gameplay updates. There have been some limited tests and an occasional screenshot, but nothing like what fans have seen with other major video game releases. Footage has been posted on social media showing what fans have to look forward to.
The developers have just started console builds in the last few days and are currently testing new movement abilities and combat balancing. Better graphics will follow. The X account has promised artwork, videos, and more progress soon.
Deadrop announces refunds for Dr Disrespect items alongside release date info
Deadrop will offer refunds to players who purchased Dr Disrespect-themed cosmetic items.
With Dr Disrespect poised for a comeback, Midnight Society is looking to completely divorce itself from content creator. The studio announced on Discord that it is offering refunds for cosmetic items, including a license plate that reads “2TIME” and a vehicle skin. 2TIME is a reference to Dr Disrespect’s claims of being a two-time NBA Jam world champion.
The license plate has been changed to say REDRUM. Fans can either keep this updated license plate and the vehicle skin or they can get a refund for both.
The reactions have been mixed, as Dr Disrespect’s most dedicated followers voiced frustration over Midnight Society scrubbing him from the game entirely. Others have continued supporting the game, expressing excitement for a new take on the battle royale genre and curiosity at the game’s weapons and design.
