Dr Disrespect admits guilt, gives explanation for Twitch ban

After announcing an indefinite break from streaming, Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm responded to the accusations of sexting a minor leveled against him by admitting guilt and giving an explanation for his ban from Twitch.

Former Twitch employee Cody Conner claimed that an unspecified streamer was previously banned for sexting with a minor. While Conner gave no name speculation immediately centered on Dr Disrespect, which multiple gaming industry reporters corroborated. However, no evidence or explanation was provided.

After days of relative quiet and being dropped by gaming studio Midnight Society and longtime sponsor Turtle Beach, Dr Disrespect has posted a lengthy response. He acknowledged the legitimacy of the claims therein but insisted nothing illegal happened.

Dr Disrespect admits that inappropriate texts with minor led to Twitch ban

Dr Disrespect acknowledged sending inappropriate messages to a minor.

While his previous responses to the accusations were vague and simply refuted the claims, Doc may have conceded to messaging a minor in a new post. However, he claims that nothing illegal happened.

“Were there Twitch Whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more,” he said.

Dr Disrespect’s original post stated that the messages that led to his Twitch ban were sent to an “individual minor.” The statement was later edited to remove the word “minor.” Per the streamer, he did not share any pictures or engage in any activities that would be deemed unlawful.

He did, however, undergo a lengthy arbitration regarding a civil dispute with Twitch, which was settled. Neither side admitted fault.

“It should have never happened. I get it. I’m not perfect and I’ll f—— own my sh–. This was stupid,” he said.

Dr Disrespect set to take an indefinite break from streaming on YouTube

Dr Disrespect is set to take an indefinite break from streaming after admitting to sending inappropriate messages to a minor.

On June 25, he announced that he would be taking an indefinite break. This announcement came just moments before he was kicked out of Midnight Society, the game studio he co-founded in 2021. It’s unclear when he’ll come back or what reaction he might receive upon doing so.

This isn’t his first indefinite leave from streaming. Prior to his Twitch ban, Dr Disrespect famously took a lengthy break from streaming after tearfully admitting to having an affair.
