Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero pits players against iconic villains yet fans can’t seem to beat Great Ape Vegeta; here’s how to do it and what cheese options there are available.
After several years away from the Budokai Tenkaichi franchise, the Dragon Ball games return to their roots with Sparking Zero. With one of the largest rosters in Dragon Ball history, fans will have no issue finding or fighting any characters they like. Among the fan favorites is Vegeta and his myriad of forms.
Even so, nobody can forget that the Prince of Saiyans started as a villain in the series, and that’s a role he plays once more in Sparking Zero’s Episode Battles. Surprisingly, it’s not Super Saiyan Vegeta or Majin Vegeta that are troubling fans; it’s his great ape form. Thankfully, beating Great Ape Vegeta is possible; and there is some cheese potential if players are having too much trouble.
Great Ape Vegeta boss fight guide in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero
Great Ape Vegeta is a borderline unfair boss fight early in the game which requires spatial awareness, a lot of ki, and patience to beat.
In classic Budokai Tenkaichi fashion, the first giant fight in the game is also one of the most difficult. Avoid going into a melee with him whenever possible, as he will use a headbutt attack that takes out a huge chunk of health
Utilize powerful ranged attacks like the Kamehameha, as it’s one of the few attacks that his super armor cannot deflect.
Speaking of beam attacks, beam clashes are another way to bypass dodging heavy attacks. Wait for Great Ape Vegeta to charge up his mouth beam, then fire a Kamehameha to enter a beam clash. While still tough, mashing is far easier than dealing with everything else. Plus, it deals massive damage, meaning good timing can end the fight in minutes.
How to cheese Great Ape Vegeta
Players can cheese the Great Ape Vegeta fight in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero by using ranged attacks and effectively using the arena.
Fortunately, one can cleverly use the terrain of the fight to their advantage. The vast open canyon has plenty of conveniently large rocks for Goku to hide behind.
With clever maneuvering, players can quickly hide behind the rocks to block massive ki blasts from Great Ape Vegeta. It also allows the player to charge up enough ki for the crucial Kamehameha before being spotted, one of the few attacks that can reliably beat Great Ape Vegeta.
In this bossfight, using Sparking Mode is more of a “get out of jail” free card than a way to quickly end the fight, given the boss’s health. Save up ki for beam attacks like the Kamehameha after escaping the Saiyan ape assault. This doesn’t necessarily make the fight an easy one, but it’s the best strategy available for players who are struggling to deal with him.
