A data mine of Bandai Namco’s official website suggests Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s release date is closer than expected.
Dragon Ball is one of the most beloved anime and manga series of all time and a slice of that popularity is thanks to the classic Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi game series. While the series has been dormant since the PlayStation 2, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is set to revive it.
However, while Bandai Namco has slowly but surely been revealing information on the game including characters and additions to the gameplay, the release date was left a mystery. Data mines from the company’s official website suggest fans can expect to play Sparking Zero fairly soon.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero release date potentially leaked
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s release date is October 1, 2024, according to a data mine of Bandai Namco’s website.
This information comes from SergioM3R, a data miner who has leaked information on past Dragon Ball games, including Xenoverse. The expectation for the game’s release date has typically landed in late 2024, though the fact it already has an ESRB rating suggests it could have come out sooner. Developer Spike Chunsoft and publisher Bandai Namco haven’t revealed a release date, but this October 1 date does come from an official source.
Many fans were theorizing a November release date would occur thanks to the original Dragon Ball manga’s 40th anniversary. Past Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi games were consistently released in the first week of October. Fans shouldn’t start booking vacation time to play the game quite yet, however.
According to the data miner, some game entries on Bandai Namco’s website have the release date set to the first or second of the month. This could mean that the October 1 date is just a placeholder for a yet-to-be-determined date later in the month. And of course, even if this date is the internal expectation, unforeseen delays do occur.
Will Dragon Ball Sparking Zero be released on the Nintendo Switch?
The official trailers and the Bandai Namco website only specify that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will launch on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. However, a port to Nintendo platforms is possible.
Recent Dragon Ball games have been broadly multi-platform. This trend was seen with Xenoverse 2, FighterZ, and even Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the last game released before Sparking Zero. The gap between the initial and Switch releases can vary.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s October 1 release date could see the game coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. Since Sparking Zero isn’t coming to last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Bandai Namco might skip the Switch entirely in favor of the Switch 2.
