With Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree’s release date on the horizon, fans now know when they can pre-load the DLC and the file size required to download it.
Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is one of the most anticipated releases of 2024, standing taller than many brand-new AAA releases. Adding so much new content to the already huge game, many fans wonder when they can pre-load the DLC to ensure they can quickly jump into the new region.
X user PlaystationSize, who reports on download sizes for upcoming PlayStation games and DLC, gave new details about Shadow of the Erdtree. In addition to when fans can pre-load the DLC, the user also gave information on how big the download size will be, and it’s bigger than many expected.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree pre-load date
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be available to pre-load on June 19, 2024.
While it hasn’t been reported on, that pre-load date will likely be the same for PC players as well. However, it’s unknown if Xbox players will get to pre-load the game earlier than those on PlayStation and Windows. Elden Ring was available to pre-load 48 hours before release on PlayStation consoles and PC even though the Xbox version’s pre-load went up around a week before its release.
With a June 21 release date, this means players have two days to pre-download the DLC in preparation for its weekend release. As long as every prerequisite to start the DLC is met, those who pre-load Shadow of the Erdtree can jump right into it upon its release.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree download size
According to user PlaystationSize, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree’s download size is over 16 GB on PlayStation consoles. Elden Ring’s total storage requirement after installing the update on a PS4 or PS5 will be 54.230 GB.
As this information was taken from the PlayStation database the DLC’s size will likely differ for other platforms. However, the difference is likely to be fairly small. Elden Ring requires around 45 GB on PlayStation consoles before the update while the Xbox and Windows versions demand around 50.
For context, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice takes up about 12.5 GB of storage space on PlayStation consoles. As Shadow of the Erdtree costs more than any other FromSoftware DLC, the added space indicates the amount of content fans can expect.
